We are considering renting a jeep and seeing the sights of St. Thomas on our own. Coral World looks interesting (we have 2 boys 9 & 6) but is pricey -- at $56 for the family. Is it worth it? Can you see the same sorts of fish snorkeling off Coki Beach? Any opinions would be appreciated!

Edited: I just found the thread started a couple weeks ago. Sorry about the duplicate question -- sorry.

My wife and I went to Coral World nearly 20 years ago, and debated taking our kids (13 and 17) there on our 12-27-03 Eastern. Mind you, Coral World isn't as nice as say the Monterrey Aquarium we have here, but our kids really liked it.
All the excursions are pricey, and $56 for a family is on the low end cost wise. We did that as part of a city tour in the afternoon. We did the tram in the morning. Went back to the ship for a sit down lunch in Lumieres, the only sit down lunch we had on the cruise. And did some shopping before the ship left.
The big bummer of St. Thomas is that EVERYONE had to get up early that morning to clear immigration at 6:45 am. This was the 5th time my wife and I have been there. The first 2 times we were excited to tour, and second 2 times we used the St. Thomas day to sleep in and go ashore when we were ready. This time, since we HAD to get up, we tryed to cram in as much as we could.

The tourist info area right off the docking area has coupon books for tourists. These contain a $ off coupon for Coral World. DOn't remember how much, but several dollars per person off.....worth the 2 minute stop to get the book (which is free).

Coral World is nice, especially for young kids like yours. THere are several hands on areas, an underwater viewing area, a traditional aquarium area, hiking trails, gift and snack shops, and Coki beach.
