Is concierge worth it?

Hello all! I'm planning a 6-night Nov. 2006 trip to WL - 2 adults + 2 kiddos (who are adults by Disney standards - since when is a 10 yr old an adult?). We plan to eat B/L/D each day and by reading what food is offered at the concierge level, I wondering if any of you more knowledgable folks think that it would be worth the extra $ to book concierge instead of purchasing the dining plan. (Not to mention the other perks.) Your thoughts? Thank you in advance - you're WONDERFUL! :flower:

We just went on our first concierge stay in December at BWI and just loved it. I would highly recommend it, however, I think that you are comparing apples and oranges when looking at concierge vs the dining plan. The food offerings are not really meant to be meal replacements, except perhaps breakfast - they are more snack offerings, especially mid-day. Also, you certainly don't want to try and plan your activities around getting back to the lounge for the snacks.

Concierge is more about the service level (check-in, pre-planning, etc.) than about the food. This is not to say we didn't enjoy the offerings - we did, very much so (love those desserts at night!), but I am afraid that if you went with concierge ONLY for the food offerings, you would be disappointed. I think you might be better off going with non-concierge and getting the meal plan. Just my opinion and I am sure that you will enjoy you trip either way.

I think you're way better off with the DP as far as food goes. Concierge, for the price, is not worth it IMHO

paladin is absolutely correct. Concierge is not going to replace meals unless you are a light breaksfast eater. It's not meant to do that. I have seen many posts on this board from people who stayed concierge and were appalled by guests who tried to make the snacks into meals and left nothing for other guests.

There are many wonderful advantages to concierge. They will make ADR's and other reservations for you. The lounges are nice and of course it is nice to have the snacks if you are around during the times they are offered.

I recently visited the Polynesian concierge lounge and it was lovely. There was a big tv, board games for the kids, lots of chairs to relax and watch the Wishes fireworks from. It seemed very nice.

I believe there is a post on concierge on the resorts board at the top. That might be helpful to you.

Good luck making a decision. :flower:

Thank you all who posted! I think I already had my mind made up to do the DP. It was when I saw trip reports stating that real food was offered in the evening at WL, I thought we might look at concierge as an option. By no stretch of the imagination would we want to offend anyone. :guilty: I think we'll just bite the bullet and book with the DP! Thanks again! :wave2:

BTW - no Broncos fans in this house! Go Steelers! :smooth:
