is Cirque du Soleil for kids?

DH and I want to go see La Nouba next summer when we're at DW, however, I am not sure if my DD4 will like it. Will she be bored?

It totally depends on the kids. There is plenty of movement, color, music, dance, etc. to keep many young kids focused on the show.

My little guy has seen it twice, once at 18 months and once at 3 years and he was absolutely mesmerized both times. I don't think he ever took his eyes off the stage. I will say, though, that out of consideration to the other patrons who spent a lot of money on their tickets, I was ready to haul him out of there both times at the first little squeak. It never happened, though. He was fascinated.

It really is an absolutely incredible and breathtaking show. If you don't think your little one would enjoy it, I would reccomend maybe letting her enjoy one of the fun resort Kids Clubs while you take in the show. To me, it's a "DO NOT MISS" event.

My take on it is that its really expensive, worth it for adults (if you can afford it), but riskier with kids for the money.

My kids - at six and seven - were also entraced, but didn't have the appreciation for what was going on that adults do. There is an element to Cirque of "wow - that should be impossible" that kids don't get because there doesn't seem anything impossible about stacking and climbing chairs to the ceiling. But plenty of color, music, etc., to keep them looking.

We did wait until they were six and seven. I just couldn't part with that much money before then. Too much risk of a three year old sleeping through a show we paid $70 for them to see.

We liked the FotLK show at Animal Kingdom when they were younger (still do). Cirque like tricks (not as good as Cirque - but good), but free and shorter.

This is a toughie with the age of your child.

My DS (12) at the time was absolutely enthralled by Cirque. He talks about it to this day and I'd take him again in an instant. It was the quietest he was all week except for the belly laughs

On the other side of me though was this family with a little munchkin about the age of your child. We went to the late show and this poor kid should have been in bed. It was very difficult for me to enjoy with this going on beside me. If you I'd definitely choose the early show and be willing to take your child out if it doesn't work.

Just took DD5 this past August....she loved it. She told me it was "better than a movie, because it's real." She is the type who will sit quietly though. I had never taken her to a show like that before, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. We went to the early show and got dinner after. She probably wouldn't have made it through the 9pm show.

I say go with your gut instinct, you know your child best.

PS we sat in the 3rd row on the side of the stage, but the theatre is very intimate and has excellent seating, you could buy the inexpensive seats and still have a great time, if you are worried about spending too much on a little one's ticket.

I gave it a lot of thought as to whether or not to bring our son who's 5, as it is a lot of money to potentially be wasting or not enjoying, but I did watch a bit of it on tv last year...travel channel or something and it looked absolutely fascinating. I think he'll really enjoy it.

It's a big risk to take, and yes, it would make for a great date night for mom and dad, but I was afraid that I'd spend the whole time thinking that he'd love it if I left him behind...

I say go for it!!

My daughter saw it for the first time when she was 6 she loved it and still talks about it 6 yrs later. One day we will take her back.
