Is Christmas morning any different at WDW?

We will be at the Poly for Christmas morning/day. What can we expect? Are there any surprises or is it just another day?

This same question was asked recently on another thread, the replies were that years ago stockings were left on the doors, but nothing now.

We stayed at the Polynesian a few years ago during Christmas. Christmas morning was no different than any other morning...always nice!!! :):santa: :santa:
Have fun!!!

I'm sure it will be nice every morning. My plans are to bring my own stockings and fill them with small presents and treats. I also plan on decorating our room, attending Christmas Mass at the Contempoary Resort, followed by brunch at Chef Mickey's. So...it will be a special Christmas morning.;)

expect super crowds that day in the parks. We arrived on Christmas Day on year and when we checked in we were told that MK was closed to capacity

I can attest to the comment about the crowds on Christmas morning. Last year, we flew home on Christmas Day and were at the Pop food court around 7:00 a.m. to use up our last CS credits. I couldn't believe the number of people who were already out and about and lining up for the buses to the parks. It was insane! We were actually glad that we were leaving that day. On the other hand, the airport wasn't very crowded and we had an easy trip home. That was the longest Christmas Day of our lives since we flew home to the west coast. We gained our 3 hours back. We were at my parent's house for dinner than evening and by 8:00 p.m., we were falling asleep in our plates. After a 10 day trip, long flight home and the fact that it was really 11:00 p.m. for us, we were beat! :)

When did you arrive prior to Christmas? We are arriving on Wednesday, Dec. 19th and also leaving Christmas Day in the afternoon. Were the crowds ok the days prior to Christmas Day? How was the weather? I am so excited to be going. This is our first time to go. :cool1:

We are also arriving then, but we are leaving on the 24th. We originally planned the 23rd-29th, but after reading the threads on X-mas crowds, I was scared off. I am still going to get to see Disneyworld at X-mas, so I am happy. Have a great trip!:santa:

I think it won't be quite as crowded. Schools don't seem to be getting out until the 21st. I will also be there Dec 19-23 and I think we will just miss the worst coming in, or they will be coming in as we are leaving.

I'm not crazy enough to ever go to WDW on Christmas--I've been there on July 4th and Thanksgiving, and that's enough crowds for this girl. ;)

The weather is unpredictable. In the past week we've seen high's of over 80, and low's into the lower 40's. If it's an average Christmas, expect daytime high's in the mid-70's. Last year Christmas brought terrible (and deadly) storms to this area--please God don't let that happen again. The year before IIR Christmas Day was absolutely gorgeous! I'd suggest packing clothes that can be layered. Have a great trip!

It is just another day at Disney with huge crowds, much like July 4, Thanksgiving. We stay away from the parks on Christmas. This year we are there from the 18-27.

We were there in 2005 from 12/17-12/26 and it didn't start to get crowded until Christmas Eve. We did not go to the parks on Christmas Day. We went by MK on our way to our ADR at 1900 Park Fare and were very glad that we were not going in. The lines to get in were the worst I've ever seen.

This year, we will be there from 12/20-12/26 and plan to just go with the flow. We are doing MVMCP and I will be at MK on the 23rd for my birthday. Once again, we do not plan to be in any of the parks on Christmas Day.

Back on topic: We stayed at POFQ and didn't receive anything special for Christmas. From what I've read on these boards, they stopped doing that a few years ago. It's okay, though, I'm just happy to be there for Christmas (and my birthday).:cloud9:

I just want to thank everyone that has provided information for me. I am really looking forward to my trip and all of your insight has helped me to better plan our activities. Thanks everyone! :santa:

We will be at the Poly for Christmas morning/day. What can we expect? Are there any surprises or is it just another day?

Other than very crowded it is pretty much a normal day, especially for the CM that are working instead of spending the day with their family.

We were there Christmas 2001 at ASMu. There was a little bag on the door w/a few candies. My Brother and his family were there too, but stayed at the Dolphin. They went to Christmas Mass at either the Poly or the Contemporary near MK and said it looked like a zoo at the park. They just stayed at resort, did laundry and hung out. We went to Epcot and it was almost empty the whole day. It rained on and off all day but we had a great time. We met them at their resort for dinner that evening and had a nice meal, with several characters coming around and an a wonderful day overall.

we stayed at poly last year at christmas (and will be there this year too!) the only thing i noticed that was different was that there were way more people. everyone tends to check in on christmas eve or very early christmas morning so it is a little harder to move around.
but i did notice last year and i hope they do the same this year, is that every night before christmas they had carolling in the lobby with free hot chocolate and cookies :) it was a great treat to come back to after being at the parks (it does tend to get a little cold at night and last year it rained every single night after 7pm)
