Is Chef Mickey's Worth it?

I haven't been in 20 years, and I only have 5 days. We are going the last week of July, so I know it will be busy. So my question is should I give up a morning of rope drop at a park to have breakfast at Chef Mickey's or save for my next trip? I will probably go back in 2 years during the off season. I have looked at the dinner menu and I don't think we would enjoy that food as much as breakfast. Thanks in advance for your response.

Chef Mickey's is a very good and unique experience. You probably won't write home about the food, but the food (especially at breakfast) is fine.

However, being your first trip in 20 years it's SO not worth missing a rope drop for. Especially during the busy season as the parks just continue filling up as the day goes on.

Being the 'high' season the parks will likely open a little early. I would suggest going to MK for Rope drop. Tour and enjoy the park. Make a 10:30 (or later if you can) Chef Mickey's reservation and do Chef Mickey's as Brunch. (I am guessing that the parks will likely open around 8am - we've done this ourselves but when the parks opened at 7am.) We headed back to the parks after our brunch and used our Fast Passes that were due and then we went back to the hotel for a mid day rest.

If that doesn't work, I'd skip Chef Mickey's this trip. To me the cost of Chef Mickey's (Missing Rope Drop and dealing with a much more crowded park for the whole day) is too high. You only have 5 days in the parks so the most you'll spend in the MK is probably a day and a half to two days.

Just my opinion on what works for us.

Depending on what time the parks open, we have always been able to go to Chef Mickeys very early and made it in time for rope drop.

In my opinion I love Chef Mickey's experience . So I say it's definately worth it.:thumbsup2

Chef Mickey's is worth it because of their great atmosphere, so maybe you can schedule it on a day you don't plan to visit the parks.

I have only been once with my DDthen6. We did Cindy's castle too but she loved CMs. We had dinner there. It was worth every penny and Minnie ended up being her favorite of the whole trip. She had been a big princess fan up until meeting minnie and then it was all over. She hugged Minnie with her whole mite and said "oh Minnie I just love you".

I don't really remember the food one way or the other so I'd say it was fine. Nothing to rave about but also nothing to complain about!

Chef Mickey's gets :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 from us. We are always pleased with our meals at CM.

We were there last week, and the construction noise was sooo loud that you couldn't hear each other talk or hear the music/atmosphere! You may want to see if it will still be under construction for your visit. I usually give CM's a :thumbsup2 but I won't go during a construction timeframe again! :sad2:

They just finished construction of the renovated Outer Rim Lounge so that means there won't be any construction noise around Chef Mickey's.
