Is Chef Mickey's worth higher airfare?

I didn't give too much thought to dinner on the day we fly in, which in hindsight is a mistake. It is our only ADR that will be new for us. I know that our DD4 will love it, but it will cost us $50 more in airfare to fly in in time to get to our reservation. It's all booked up now for dinner, so can't change it. Is Chef Mickey's worth $50 in extra airfare?

NO....CM's is not worth the price they charge to eat, never mind higher airfare. Don't get me wrong I do love the place but I think it is an emormous rip off in terms of value for the dollar. Especially the new 'holiday' pricing.

Chef Mickey's is always the first stop and first meal I recommend to friends who have NEVER been to Disney World before because it has the classic characters, a decent selection of quality food, and it's on the monorail loop so after your meal you can hop on and ride past the Magic Kingdom to see Cinderella's castle lit up (and if you time it right you can catch the "Wishes" fireworks) ... It's such a great way to break into the excitement and celebrate your arrival with Mickey & friends ... So my advice to you is this ... if this is your FIRST time visit to Disney World I think it's worth the $50 for the excitement of this fun meal ... if you're a Disney veteran I'd pass and save it for a future visit.

Chef Mickey's is one of the more organized character meals we've done. The food is good and it might be a nice way to start your vacation. However, depending on how long you'll be there and what other ADR's you have would be more of the deciding factors for me. If you'll have time to see Mickey in the parks and have some other fun ADR's planned I'd save Chef Mickey's for the next trip.

Good luck!

I don't know about dinner at Chef Mickey's, but we have eaten there for breakfast and LOVE it. It is a "must do" for us. However, I don't know if I would go out of my way by changing flights and absorbing a higher airfare cost solely for Chef Mickey's. In fact, I'm not sure what ADR would be worth that - there's always other good places to eat.

People will differ on this one, but we wouldn't spend the extra money to get there early.

Is that $50 total or $50/person?

If it is total, I would definitely do it. My 3 kids love and adore Chef Mickey's. Ok, me too. ;)

But if $50/person, no way.

NO, it's not even worth the price they charge. Probably the worst food, service and character experience we have had at Disney. We went excited and I left extremely disappointed.

No. And besides you know what will hapen if you do switch the flight just to dine at CM...the flight will be delayed!

We also love CM, but is it going to cost you another $50 in total or $50 for each person? I would have to say no to the $50.00 per person, no place is worth $50 a person, plus having to purchase the meals.

NO- and I like Chef Mickeys- in fact we are going there twice on our trip- breakfast one day, dinner another- I would not pay an extra $50 on top of the price of the meal to eat there though. Also, you can't guarantee your flight will be on time and you'll make it there anyhow- JMO...

I have never been to Chef Mickey's, but I would leave your flight alone.
Is it possible for you to get breakfast, or dinner on a different day? Also, I agree with the PP that asked about whether or not you would get to see those characters elsewhere. If you can see them somewhere else, then it would probably be less worth it to change your airfare.

IMO save the $50 and the buffet price for Chef Mickey's and use the money for something else... If you're staying on-site it might be more fun for your kids to order room service. When I was little I always wanted to order room service, but my parents never went for the idea.

No - I wasn't all that impressed with Chef Mickey's. I thought it was a just another buffet... of course, we were a late seating, so maybe the good food was all gone.

Loved Chef Mickeys for dinner.

That said-No don't mess with your airfare, don't pay extra money- What if your plane is delayed?

Too many wierd factors. My answer is NO

$50 in airfare each? or $50 extra total? if it's only just $50 total then sure why not. you're already spending so much to go to wdw, what's $50 more compare to all the money you're already spending. that's the way i see it anyway :)

There is no way! Would you pay an extra fifty dollars for your meal? (If someone tacked an extra $50 onto my Chef Mickey's meal, there would be big trouble!) There are too many other great character meals to spend that kind of money just to dine at Chef Mickey's.

Personally I would never make a meal reservation on a flight arrival day unless the reservation is at least five hours after the landing time. (You could probably do 4 hours if you are not taking Magical Express to your resort). Flights do get delayed quite often.

I would definitely not make one that has a no-show fee (I don't believe Chef Mickey's does).

But I also don't think Chef Mickeys is worth paying that kind of cash to change your flights.
