Is Chef Mickey's really so bad??

I've heard such mixed reviews but we'll be trying it in Sept!! Other goos character meals would be dinner at 1900 Park Faire, with Cindy & the gang! Awesome character interaction!!

We have gone to chef mickeys multiple times. For experience its great especially with the characters. Food overall is good not great but good which doesn't bother me to much. It's not bad in my opinion but its not the best and yes we will go back again.

disney lover at heart

One thing I can say is that we've never experienced messiness or gross food that looks like it's been sitting out at the buffet for a long time. I think that might be because I always make a reservation for when it opens. Everything is still fresh and clean at that point.

We don't think so! We've always enjoyed our meals there. Is it fancy or special food? No. But the food is typical buffet fare and the character interaction is great.

I see a lot of people slamming Chef Mickey's. We were thinking of having dinner here on our second day as we cannot enter any parks until our fourth day after arrival (2 week Ultimate tickets on a 3 week holiday!) and wanted DD to have some character interaction before hitting the parks, we enjoy our park free days but DD will probably be desperate to get to them and meet the characters, so we felt this was a good option. I am starting to wonder if it's such a good idea after reading more about it, no one seems to have a good word to say about it. If we did decide against it, are there any other character meals outwith the parks we could go to? Not dinner shows though, we have that planned for later in the trip. :)

All I know is I LOVE their breakfast.

We have done Chef Mickey's a few times. We usually only do breakfast. You are paying for the experience, not the food. Food is just ok. This time I'm scheduling a late Chef Mickey's breakfast to see if that slows things down a bit (I doubt it :rotfl:). Overall though, I don't mind spending 1TS on it. I know my son will be happy so when he's happy, mommy is happy.

Chef Mickey is usually our arrival day dinner. The best meal we had was when they opened for lunch during free dining one year. Dinner is ok - nothing special but we don't go into expecting much. We have been pleasantly surprised a few times. I think the character interaction is really good. My dd would be so disappointed if we didn't go to CM during our trip. We did breakfast one year and we prefer dinner. Breakfast just seemed really rushed and louder than dinner. Which I didnt think was possible.

10 years ago I would say that CM was one of our favorite places for dinner. We've just seen it go downhill slowly. Our experience there last December was just so sad. The buffet was a mess, food all over the floors, poor selections at the buffet, and the food was not very good at all. We've sadly crossed CM's off of our dining list.

With that said, I hope that you go and discover that my thoughts are completely unfounded!! Please report back on your experience!! I would love to hear how it went!
