IS Celebration something worth going to see?

A guy at works was just about to talk about Celebration when he got a phone call. He was tellling me that it was worth spending some time there... I was bascially under the impression that Celebration was just for people who owned homes there.

I live in Celebration and I think it's worth coming to see. The downtown lakefront is lovely, and there are rockers where you can sit out. You can walk the boardwalks, rent a bike, or take a Segway tour. As an added bonus, you can simply walk the streets and see how many foreclosed/abandoned houses you can count on any particular street (yeah, the housing bust hit this town HARD).

Thanks, and WOW..... my wife and I almost bought one of those homes when they were first being built, IIRC... about 10 years ago, maybe 12?

Yep, I think the first residents moved in back in 1996. We bought right before the insane bubble...the prices went out of control and then it burst. It was funny to watch our house's value nearly double on paper, then go down again to some sort of reality level.

Celebration also has some fun holiday activities, especially useful for folks staying off site.

They have a great Fourth of July fireworks show.

Halloween is great in Celebration. Some residents go as far as staging full blown scenes, not just decorations. a few years ago, they had a Wild West theme, complete with a saloon and several people dressed in Western attire. They even acted out skits. (The candy was good too)

At Christmas time, there is snow falling on Market Street, a sleigh ride, and Santa Claus.

Hi, we love Town Tavern in downtown Celebration for a great lunch or dinner.
Best onion rings we have had in the whole area.
Reasonable prices and very nice folks...
It is fun to drive around and do a house tour. You can really get fun lost on some of the back streets. Not totally sure, but I think there are no two homes alike in the whole place...at least it seems that way!!!
Enjoy...Ted

Sorry, but we're like any other cookie-cutter town. In pretty much any part of Celebration other than the custom estate home areas, you will quickly realize there are certain "patterns" and that there are many, many, many identical homes. It's just like any other subdivision with certain home models to choose from. There are some custom homes, but other than that you'll see duplicates everywhere.

Well, there goes that balloon!!
I will be more observant next winter!
Thanks...Ted
