Is CBR worth $415.00 more than value resorts?

We went last September and stayed at POP. I liked it just fine. DH thought the pools left little to be desired. Not too sure what he is looking for other than a huge pool. He is looking at Coronado Springs or CBR. I would like to try one of the ALL Stars.
Any input??? $415.00 is alot on a 7 night package for 2 adults and 1 7yo.

CBR - no way, I would stay value. If huge pool is what he is looking for - that is not CBR. The theme pool is way too small for size of resort, with a mini sized hot tub and small slide.

CSR does have a huge pool and hot tub and slide, and am sure you DS will love it there. I would probably pay the difference for 7 nights to stay at CSR.

Try the All Star Movies.

I am 55 years old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

The Fantasia Buildings are the preferred buildings.
The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.
It is a great place to stay .
Preschoolers love it.
It is like being in the middle of a Disney Movie Fantasyland.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot,MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

When staying at the All Stars you can use any of the All Star pools.That means 3 main pools ,3 quiet pools and 3 kiddie pools to chose from.

The All Star Movie Fantasia pool has Mickey.

The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

And the Surfs up pool at All Star Sports has giant surf boards.

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

It isn't to us. We've stayed at both, and we like both, but ASMovies has a better food court in our opinion. Have a great trip, no matter what you decide.

I don't see that it is worth it unless you have tons of stuff or really need a hottub and dont mind huge crowds in it.

thanx everyone. I am leaning toward the All Star Movies now. I am going to leave it up to DH though since he doesnt really want to go again this year. (His idea is Disney is fine once every 3-5 years. )

I think it depends on the time of year and who you are traveling with.

DH and I enjoy the value resorts as well as the deluxe but when we travel the same time as school groups or cheerleading squads the extra money for the mod or deluxe is WORTH IT!!!

we did enjoy CBR for the first time earlier this month and we would spend the money again to go there.

Definitely worth the extra money!

CSR is a large resort that does not share services with other resorts and offers some deluxe amenities because it is a convention resort.

CSR has a salon, spa, and a gym that other moderates do not offer. CSR has full menu room service and offers an internal shuttle system provided by golf carts to assist in getting to and from the main building to the villages.

It is also the only mod to offer suites.

CSR is situated around a 15 acre lake and CBR is situated around a 45 acre lake.

CSR has terrific transportation. It does not share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 8 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks.

And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

CSR has the best pool of the mods and probably the second best on WDW property. Best mod pool. It offers a great slide (123 ft long), an arcade, a sand volleyball court, and a playground at the main pool area.

Coronado Springs is my Best Value choice in the Moderate category. It has several advantages compared with the other Moderate resorts. It is newer, so there has been less wear-and-tear on everything. Also, Coronado Springs is a convention hotel, so it has a few extra amenities not offered at the other Moderates, including a salon, a health club and a more upscale food court.

The theming is radically different in the three areas of Coronado Springs. You can request a specific area when booking but there is no guarantee you'll get your request.

• The Spanish-style Casitas at Coronado Springs are very peaceful, with courtyards featuring tiled fountains. Casitas Buildings 1, 3 and 2 (in that order) are the closest to the restaurants and services. Casitas Building 4 contains the salon and health club, if those are important to you.
• The Cabanas at Coronado Springs have a beachy Caribbean feeling. Cabanas Building 8A is very close to the feature pool, which may be a blessing (convenience) or a curse (noise, light). Cabanas Building 9B is closest to the marina and relatively convenient to the restaurants and services.
• The Ranchos at Coronado Springs feel quiet and secluded -- some would say isolated -- and feature desert landscaping and pueblo-style architecture. They look closest to the main pool on a map, but in actuality they are separated from the rest of the property by a swamp, so it can be a fairly long walk from these buildings to the pool, and a very long walk to the restaurants.

I'm kinda a "value" gal, but I'm staying at a mod this time because:

a.) All-Star rooms are tiny, and we now have 5 (2 adults, 2 kids, baby/toddler).
b.) The fridge in a mod makes it worth it with a baby.
c.) Coffee maker.
d.) Pool slide for the older kids, though they wouldn't have cared much when they were younger.

However, I have a discount this time that makes the mod only dollars above the value, which makes the decision a lot more painless.

We have the same thoughts going from mod to deluxe. We've always stayed mod and have loved it. This trip we are going to a deluxe and it's $669.00 more. It's alot of money, considering all we do is sleep there but due to many circumstances this year, we are going deluxe and are quite excited.

The answer is always subjective on this question. We don't have kids, so it's just the two of us. While we have stayed at ASMu, POP, and CSR none of them was any more or less magical for us than the other. Points that might make the difference for us are detailed below.

We always get a king room, so it's nice to be able to secure that by staying and paying for it at a moderate rather than hoping and praying for it at a value.

I will say that CSR did feel less crowded when fuller than POP did. CSR was quieter overall because of all the convention traffic rather than traditional tourists.

The food courts.....wow, this one is also really subjective. Yes, the Pepper Market at CSR is more expensive and I am not a big fan of the built in gratuity, but the variety of tasty food choices is a really nice option and the portions are HUGE. CSR had a wide variety of foods available from room service too. It went way beyond pizza, which is the only option at the values. I loved the Maya Grill restaurant. It was cheaper to eat a buffet breakfast at Maya than it was to eat breakfast at the Pepper Market and honestly, the food and the coffee were much better at Maya. POP and ASMu both have good basic food court options, but it's nothing fancy, which can be fine, but it's not that varied and can get a little old for some that have longer stays. POP has a cocktail bar, which is a stand out feature over the AS's, but that's not important to everyone either.

CSR had great bus service. POP had pretty good bus service. ASMu had good bus service. It's all relative.

The hike factor at the end of the day all depends on the location of your room. I will say that if you are unlucky enough to end up at the back of that AS's or in the wrong room at POP, that you will most likely walk further than you would at CSR. We liked the parking lot location in respect to our room much better at CSR.

Room amenities vary a little, but having a fridge in the room without having to pay an additional upcharge is a pretty cool bonus at the moderates. The rooms are a little larger and if you are planning down days with some alone time with your honey, it's nice to have the extra bit of breathing room.

Price is always our deciding factor in the end. My next trip is most likely not happening until late October/early November of 2007. While I would love to stay at AKL in a Savannah view room on the Concierge Level, it's just not happening. I would even like to try the Poly, just once. And even though it's a trip to celebrate turning 40, I wouldn't mind if I was at the values just as long as I get to be at MK on 11/02/07 to celebrate. Magic happens at WDW and the room has little to do with it, as long as you are on property. Maggie

I would go with the Mod. CSR: Better pool w/slide; more recreational activities; nicer grounds; full service restaurant; larger and better appointed rooms.
