Is cart access from 1400 loop to campfire still blocked?

The question pretty much says it all. We stayed in the 1400 loop in May and are leaving tomorrow for another long weekend at the Fort. I requested 1400 again because I liked the proximity to the campfire, pool, etc, but if I have to go around my hoo-hah to get to my elbow I don't think 1400 would be so appealing.

Thanks.

There is no easy way to get to the pool or campfire on a golf cart from any premium loop.

Looks like you will have to get familiar with the procedure of what you describe as "go around my hoo-hah to get to my elbow." Truthfully, I am not exactly sure what that means, nor do I wish to see a demonstration.

Have fun anyway.

Man, that really sucks! I can understand them closing off the bridge to golfcarts, but I didn't see any issues at all with the access from the 1400 loop when we were there in May. I'm starting to second-guess having rented the cart now, hopefully I will get some good looping time in after the kiddies are asleep to make me feel better about it.

Oh, and I apologize if you aren't familiar with the phrase "go around my b*tt, to get to my elbow." I thought it was pretty common. I just have two small kids, so terms like hoo-hah are often heard in our household.

I agree with you- I don't like it. There was a time in the past when the bridge was blocked off from golf carts. But, the 1400 loop was not blocked off. Now, if you are in the 1400 loop and want to take your cart to the pool, you really do have to go around your hoo-hah to get there. And, for that inconvenience, you are paying premium prices!

I just stayed in the 1500 loop at a rate that was just a dollar less than half what I would have paid if I stayed in the 1400 loop- and my access to the pool was much better.

Do you think it would help if we all sent e-mails or letters to FtW management asking them to "un-block" the 1400 loop access to the pool? I all the years we've taken our GC to FtW, we've never encountered a problem in this area. I understand the foot bridge, but not the area around the theatre. Also, the GC parking lot behind the bike barn is rediculous. It's too difficult to maneuver in and out of.

I argued with Disney management a few years ago when they wouldn't let me drive my elderly late mother in law to the campfire in my GEM car. All she wanted to do was sit in the cart like it was a drive in movie and watch/listen for a while. She couldn't walk long distances and was too proud to have a wheelchair or scooter. The first time they relented but on a subsequent visit the security wannabe wouldn't let us in and the new manager of the Fort and WL held firm on their cart policy. Disney is usually accomodating but when they don't want to be bothered they play the "it's a matter of security" trump card. I personally think a few bad apples (underage kids) racing around the area spoiled it for everyone. :confused3

I think Rockland RVers hit the nail on the head. It is a liability/security issue, and the simplest thing for them to do is to just block off the area completely.

The area behind the movie screen is very dark at night, add to that folks coming and going to the campfire, and golf carts screaming by, and it was a dangerous mix.

I don't like it. But, I understand why they did it.

I doubt that writing to management will change this decision.

And, Deb, I hate that new golf cart parking area, too. I haven't been to a full campfire presentation since they installed it, but I would imagine things get pretty congested and unpleasant in there on busy nights. And, I hate having to park there to go to the pool. I guess it isn't all that far, but compared with where you used to be able to park, it seems like a big inconvenience. If the objective is to keep the carts away from pedestrians and bicyclists, then this parking lot is in the wrong place, anyway. If they want a dedicated golf cart parking area, they should build one somewhere around the tennis courts, or better yet, let golf carts drive around the tennis courts and park near the former deep end of the pool. That way carts do not have to drive past the pool entrance and the bike parking area.

But, nobody asked me.
