Is carrentalsavers.com reliable?

BACKSTORY: I just made a new reservation for a car at Alamo through carrentalsavers.com. The price is $15 cheaper than the reservation I made yesterday directly through Alamo (used their "deals" toggle). I have tried stacking coupons and codes at Alamo and cannot duplicate the price that carrentalsavers.com gave me, so it's making me a little nervous- and the carrentalsavers reservation says the breakdown on the rental isn't available (although their site showed a rental period rate of $111 and a total rental of $130, so I assume the difference is taxes and fees). However, when I pull up the reservation directly through Alamo, it's there, at the quoted price, so I think it's a "real" reservation.

QUESTION: Are the prices and reservations at carrentalsavers.com reliable? Should I cancel my own Alamo reservation ($146) and trust the new one from carrentalsavers ($130) will be valid (because it IS in Alamo's system)?

I guess I am just nervous because I haven't used carrentalsavers.com before, and until I checked yesterday morning, my rate on this reservation was $196. It's a little awesome and nerve-wracking to have knocked $66 off a reservation in less than 24 hours!

I have never used carrentals.com, but my sister used them last time she visited Miami, no trouble at all. Also, if you reserve through ebates.com (go to the web site and sign up then search carrentals.com) they offer an additional 3% cash back. That's how we found the site in the first place.

We have used them many times, various locations. No problems. Price quoted is exactly what you pay.

I'm with katallo. We've used this site to rent cars in Orlando an other locations throughout the US. Never had a problem. Be careful if you use the Costco or other specific discounts they may ask you for the membership card. I had that happen once.

I am not sure if this rental has an additional discount or not- it wasn't clear from the site. That's what worries me- what if I don't know what the discount requirements are and don't have the necessary membership info? I did online check-in and there's no indication that there's anything additional on this rental, but it IS cheaper than what I am seeing from Alamo. Makes me a little nervous...

I just noticed my rental is cheaper on Carrentalsavers.com as well. But, you can't tell the breakdown. That's so weird. It's only a difference of 10 dollars so I'm not going to change, but I agree, I'd feel a little weird too.

Leebee- try using the following codes right on Alamo's site and see if the rates are the same: corp discount- 7014926 and coupon- AF4469SDU. I figured out if you mess up the dates while checking for a new reservation, the carrentalsavers site gives you an error page and lists all of the discounts that it would have used. For example, if you don't choose a pick up date. You can usually just google the different codes and find out where they are from to make sure that you don't need a physical coupon, etc. HTH :)

I used carrentalsavers.com in July and couldn't have been more happy. Used Alamo and no issues at all. I would use it again in a heart beat. Keep watching their site as the prices change all the time and you can easily modify your reservation to get the lower price.

Once you get the list of companies, cars, and prices, at the top left, click "Change your search". The page will then scroll to the bottom. Click "All search options" and it'll give you the codes you are looking for. If you want to bypass carrentalsavers, you can book directly with the company you want using the codes listed.

I used them for a rental this pass july. We rented a minivan for $500 for 2 weeks. We had no problems when I picked up the van from enterprise.

I've used them many times in multiple places, it's GREAT. Never had a problem, and always great rates! be sure to printouts of all your confirmation stuff.

I tried searching online for the code but it just kept looping me back to the CRS website. I called them (it said "call xxxxx for questions about this discount) and the guy on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. He just said "don't worry, it'll be ok." Well, it was OK. I picked up the car (almost an hour early) for no additional cost, they confirmed all the charges, etc. Of course the Alamo guy gave me the heavy sell on insurance and on letting them charge me for a tank of gas so I don't have to bring it back full, but I am pretty good at saying no! It's all worked out- but thanks for the tips on finding/using CRS's codes. I'm thinking maybe I should have a backup for our Oct. rental; it's at National, using the KLM code, which is pretty much defunct now.

FYI- The Alamo guy in the terminal tried to sell me the gas option at $3.15 a gallon. In the garage, driving out, they were offering $3.05. Hmmmm… seems like they are making money somewhere on this ::yes::
