I currenty have reservations for Cape May with for myself, DH and his grandparents. DH and I may be on the dining plan but his grandparents will not be as they are only driving to Disney for the day.

Is Cape May Cafe good enough to pay the price OOP for the grandparents? If not do you have any other resturant suggestions? On or off property is ok but not within the parks as the grandparents will not have tickets.

Please share your thoughts! Thanks!

Since I have done OOP at Cape May Cafe twice, I would say it is worth it, LOL. It is one of the better buffets at WDW and is fairly reasonable as the buffets go.

i have a friend at wdw now who ate at CM the other evening and she reported it was not worth the money. nothing great at all about the buffet or the desserts. so, given that, i would say not worth it. we dined there about 5 years ago and have never been back.:yay:

We have done breakfast once before. Based upon that one experience, I would not pay out-of-pocket for it.

We enjoy Cape May for dinner. We have paid OOP for it for my parents - DF is a seafood eater, DM is not. Both were pleased with the meal and found plenty to eat.

We actually like the desserts here. I love the clam chowder - not the best in the world but a good substantial chowder, I usually eat two bowls in place of an entree. :)

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but was does OOP stand for??:confused3 I have seen it many times on here, and can't for the life of me figure it out. I'm sure it's something obvious once I know, lol! Thanks for enlightening me!

Yes it is! For either breakfast or dinner!

We just tried Cape May for the first time in March and I was not impressed. The restaurant smelled like a dirty bathroom:scared1:, the buffet was extremely sloppy, the lines were long (ofcourse it was the 2nd week of March), and I found the food to be just mediocre. Hopefully this was just an off night for them, but after that experience I won't be going back!
With that being said I normally don't mind buffets, we love Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Donald's Breakfastosaurus, and Boma. I have always had wonderful dining at these places. I was very disappointed with Cape May though.

Must have been a bad day. Other than Boma, Cape May typically is MUCH MUCH better and higher quality (for dinner) than CP, the old Breakfastosaurus, and CM. At breakfast, I didn't think they were as good, though.

Just ate there last week. Great food and I think it is a little cheaper than most of the typical buffets. I would pay OOP for this one, especially if you LOVE crab legs and seafood you will get your monies worth easily. Enjoy. It was a hit with our family.

No matter if it is OP, DDP or Free Dining you are paying for the meal. Most lose site of what it takes to obtain the promoted savings so it appears Disney marketing spin to disassociate cost is working. It only when you actually see the meal offering(s) and pay cash on-site does your judgement become clearer of the worth of the meal that others paid for in advance.

DITTO DITTO DITTO --- we were there Sunday evening and I ATE MY buffet cost in crab legs alone!!!! It was wonderful.. especially if you can get up to the buffett as soon as the fresh steamed legs are out. DH and DS ate the clams and enjoyed those too! Always a wonderful buffet.

Ohana on the other hand has been a disappointment on the last 2 trips down. We will be putting that old fav on the back burner for a while.

Enjoy your dinner.

Ohana remains very popular...we have found it to be a disappointment the last two times too after we gave it another chance and another chance. No positive changes... I appears to have gone the route of a common tourist trap...they don't have to focus on quality food or service and people keep on coming because it is Disney World. It would be another story or fate if it had to survive on its own merit.

We have gone there three times and have paid OOP each time -- overall I think that it is worth it.

I have only done it on the DDP. I don't even know what the price is OOP. I will say that the food was very good with a lot of variety. Character interaction was very good too! We really enjoyed our meals here.

We've never done any kind of dining plan and often have gone to Cape May for breakfast and dinner. Big "YES" from us.:thumbsup2
