Is booking your next cruise while on a cruise still a thing?

@PrincessShmoo and others DCL Gurus,
Are we allowed to apply the placeholder reservation discount toward the Alaskan sailings on the Wonder? I assumed that might be a great application of the discount due to the high cost of that itinerary. If not, we are also considering a sailing on the Treasure in 2026.

I have never booked a placeholder and we have our second cruise ever on DCL in February on the Fantasy. It’s just my DH and me as we are new empty nesters. We might consider booking up to two state rooms for the placeholder discount to take our two college age kids with us on a sailing. Any tips are welcomed and appreciated!

DCL maintains a list of blackout sailings that a placeholder discount cannot be applied.
It is usually around holidays or on Maiden Voyages.
We sailed Alaska in 2012 and had the onboard booking discount for both cabins. This was before the days of placeholders but I’d be very surprised if they no longer allow it on Alaskan itineraries. I would Google search for the list of blackout dates.
