of getting old? :) I never used to pay much, if any, attention to the birds around our house. But just in the past several months DH and I have both gotten more interested. We bought feeders for the east side of the house, by the bay window, and we hang seed bells in the birch tree on the west side of the house, by the kitchen window. Right now I can hear the cardinal singing away, as he is perched in the birch tree. Almost every day the male cardinal comes, and we've had as many as half a dozen pretty blue jays in the tree at one time too, all taking turns at the seed bell. Anyone else enjoy feeding/watching the birds? What are some of the main birds in your area? We also have lots of robins, chickadees, and finches.

I was never interested in birds until we moved to this house. My cat was depressed, so we got her a birdfeeder. Then we started noticing them.

We have lots of pairs of cardinals, finches, chickadees, sparrows, goldfinches. We have a pair of bluebirds, and red-bellied woodpeckers. We have several downy woodpeckers. I had a sharpshinned hawk on my deck once and we have several red-tailed hawks in the area.

We also have seasonal birds like dark-eyed juncos. We also get hummingbirds in the summer.

I don't think it has anything to do with getting old. It has a lot to do with enjoying the world around you.

BTW, that's a good thing...
