Is BCV that hard to get reservations at?

So, we are dabating between buying BCV thru a resale or AKLV thru Disney with the incentive. We usually vacation twice a year in Jan. and Sept. or Oct. If we will not be booking at least 7 months in advance at BCV, is it worth purchasing as our home resort? Is is that hard to get into? BCV is our ultimate favorite, but AKLV is running a good incentive, plus it will have an additional 15 years on it. What is everyones opinion?

BCV can be hard to get into during certain times of the year, like F&W, most holidays. Jan, Sept I don't believe would be that hard but October starts hitting the F&W so chances will be slim. Most will agree that you should buy where you want to stay. But if your happy with AKV then do it....the incentives are hard to refuse.....Good Luck

Well if you dont book your trips at 11 months all the way to the 7 month mark then I would say that it would not matter.
But if you do then I would say to buy wher you want to stay.I know that during those times especially Oct it would be hard to get at BCV unless you want to go on a waitlist because of the Food and Wine festival.
As much as I love BCV I think if I were going to buy anything now it would be AKV just because of the end date and BCV contract would end before AKV the extra years would do it for me.

FWIW, our home resort is AKV, but we just got back from a BCV stay that we were able to book in early October (much closer than 7 months out).

So you should be good to go in Jan/Feb at 7 mos.

We had to make this choice just a few months ago- and we have always stayed at BC, love it there. But the incentives and extra years, plus the fact that we would really love to try them all, PLUS that all 5 of us can stay in a 1 BDRM villa at AKV, made us choose AKV. If it turns out to be impossible to get into BCV or BWV during food & wine, we'll be adding on there at some point- in the meantime, we'll be loving our gorgeous new home! We're staying at the BCV for four nights in September for the first time. We were able to call at the 7-month point and get a studio. I was pleasantly surprised that they had studios available.

I find October, December, Holidays, Spring break are probably the hardest to near impossible times to book BCV (BWV and WLV). During those times you almost have to rely on your home resort. We own BWV for our October trips, and own SSR for all other trips. We have stayed at BCV in August and have booked 7 months in advance day-by-day.

DVC is becoming HUGE with so many members so it will start to get harder to book at 7 month mark so BUY WHERE YOU WANT TO STAY!! Then it is a non stressful issue. Good luck!!

If you don't book more than 7 months in advance, home resort does not matter.

But if you can book more than 7 months out, than it will help to own at BCV....but also, from the looks of it, events like F&W and Holidays book almost at the 11 month mark itself.....so with that being said, early bird gets the worm.

If you have your heart set on BCV I would buy there, that way you can always change your booking habits to get it....but if you don't really care, just would like to get there every once in awhile, go with the longer contract.

I agree buy where you want to stay only applies if you can book at 11 month window. If you cannot book using the 7-11 window then why pay dues at a resort that you are waiting to compete with everyone else?

Right now, I would purchase AKV with a potential add-on at BCV if you feel like you need it.

If you definitely cannot use your 11 month window to book wherever you purchase, then I would buy SSR and pay the lowest dues and have 2054 expiration date.

The extra years and the incentives for AKV and SSR are very attractive.

Only purchase BCV if you are willing to change your booking style and book at 11 months.

BCV is a very competitive property and very popular with rentals so it's a double whammy. Not impossible to get into but very iffy and why pay those dues for iffy?

Our home is SSR, but I was able to book a studio for 3 nights at BCV at only 3 months out during Christmas week. It was a shock that it was available. Infact, we haven't had an issue getting a reservation at any of the resorts we wanted. You just need to be flexible with travel dates. Good luck.

Another thing about BCV is there are only around 25 dedicated 2 bedrooms with 2 Q's. Now, if you're not going to book in the home resort priority period it will be very hard to get that type of room, no matter when.

Before buying some BCV points, I was able to get a studio at 7 months out (always at 7 months from the last check out day, not day by day) for May a few times, June once or twice and this September, I got 2 nights (what I wanted) using some AKV points.

We've stayed at BCV in a studio twice at Christmas and it is not our home resort. The last time was the four days before our Disney Cruise...reservation made about 3-4 months out...so, in my experience, it's not THAT hard...

I own at BCV. I called 2 1/2 weeks after the 11 month window for X-mas booking and I am waitlisted for 4 of the nights in a studio. The one bedrooms were also booked for several of the days.

My advice...buy where you want to stay if you are a planner and if location is important to you.

DVC is getting bigger and bigger every day and BCV is a small resort.

thanks so much for all the replies. The more that we think and talk about it, we are leaning toward BCV. We figured that if we bought somewhere else, and we were unable to book BCV, we would regret it. On the other hand, I like the idea of buying into AKV and adding on points at BCV. How does that work though? Do you do that thru Disney and do you get the same use year? Also, when we called disney about buying BCV as our home resort, they said there was a waitlist for that resort, and it could be a year or so until it was available to purchase.

We bought our VWL thru Disney and our BCV thru the Timeshare store and they were both very smooth transactions. They were even able to tie both my contracts together. The Timeshare Store has many BCV resales for sale right now. Good luck!!

Well if you really want BCV then thats where you need to buy.Yes it could be that long so you could be looking at a resale for BCV. If you choose AKV and then decide to add on BCV and you go through Disney then you would definetly get the same use year but again you will more than likely have to go on the waitlist for it at that time to. You could then go resale for an add on to and dont think it have to be the same use year.
