Is baby food considered a liquid?

I am talking about the glass jars of fruits and vegetables. They are 4 ounce jars. Also, is the fact that these are glass going to be a problem? We are doing a long weekend and I was hoping to just do carry ons. DS eats 2 jars a day, so I would have about 10 jars in my bag. Would this be okay?

Well, you're going to be in kind of a grey area and may be subject to the whims of whatever TSA screening crew you happen to encounter.

Baby food in "reasonable quantities" is exempt from the 3-1-1 rules and can be carried on in containers larger than 3.4 oz. and does not need to be in the one quart-size, zip-top bag of liquids and gels each traveler is allowed. However, what will be considered a "reasonable quantity" is the real question. Many screeners may interpret that to mean what you might be required to use during your actual time in the airport and on the plane. Others might be more flexible.

If I had to guess, I would anticipate that you might have problems with 10 jars of baby food in your carry-on bags. Then again, I've never tried it (my youngest was nine when the liquid and gel rules went into effect), so maybe someone else has and had no trouble.

Ten jars would likely be consider unneccessary for a flight and would not be considered in reasonable quantities.

Thanks. I will bring 3 jars to make sure we're good for the day and then have diapers and more food shipped to the resort through Walmart.

I tried doing extra jars and got rejected. They only allow enough for 1 day.

TSA permits each passenger to have a 311 bag. That means kids too. Can you find what you need in 3 ounce, or 100 ml jars?

There is no way you could fit 10 jars worth of baby food, even in the smaller containers (which are usually packaged for the smallest babies) in a 311 bag, even in three 311 bags.
