Is Attendance Up

A friend just called me who is looking into a trip to WDW for July/August & was told there is hardly anything available in the Deluxe Resorts. She was offered the BC & BWI...everything else is booked for the month of July (and apparently into the month of August). I"ve made my reservations for the past two years about 2 or 3 weeks in advance and have had my choice of any of the deluxes. She originally asked for the GF or POLY and was told there was nothing, not even concierge. Is this because of the SOG rehab (filling the CR) or is this the norm for the summer...does that mean attendance is back to normal? Sounds like the resorts are going to be crowded.

We just planned a trip this week for July 17-22. We somehow managed to get a ressie at the Poly for garden view (only thing available). There was no availability at the Beach and Yacht Clubs, the Contemporary, and the only thing available at the GF is the Honeymoon Suite. And that's with or without a code. Things are sounding a little tight.

If the posts in this thread are any indication, sounds like WDW will be swamped in late July and early Aug. when we go.

If resorts are at or nearing capacity, why wouldn't they bring back EE? With huge crowds and no EE, it could be ugly!

Keep in mind that even if every WDW resort room were filled, that is only a small part of those who go to the parks. Judging by the "deals"" still available offsite, I don't think you'll have to worry about overcrowding. It seems as if business is picking up....certainly over the levels of last fall. But with more bad economic news, they are still not back to "normal".

I agree with you Fargoman2...& I'm also wondering if they'll schedule a 2nd Fantasmic show each night. I'm getting the feeling that it's going to be crowded.

I stopped at the Poly for dinner the other night and we picked up a schedule...Fantasmic was listed as running 2 shows from June 16th-30th, so I would venture a guess that they will be running 2 shows during July and into the beginning of August.

I don't think they had originally scheduled 2 shows for June (they added them due to crowds), and July is generally even busier...

Just back from CBR (6/20-6/27) and the crowds are not there. Part of it could have been due to the horrible weather (it has been raining for 2 weeks not just afternoon rain, but downpours that last for 6-8hours if not all day). For the first 3 days there was really no waits for most of the rides in any of the parks we were at. There were empty rooms in my building @ CBR for those days. The last 4 days there were more people, but not like a normal late June crowd. The longest line we waited in was 25 minutes. E nights were great with no waiting at all. I know that others had said earlier in the month that the E nights were crowded, but we went to both of ones offered druing our stay and they were great. The MK was open until midnight on 6/24 and 11pm on 6/25 to accomdate the increased attendence with Spectomagic shown twice during those nights. Part of the lack of rooms at Deluxe is related to SOG as I have friends staying at other resorts this summer because of the renovations at SOG. I also have friends who received upgrades to deluxe from moderates when they made their reservations in the springtime. On the other end, I know people who got resssies at AS recently. I looked at the parks posting for the week 6/30 - 7/6 befpre we left today and MK is only scheduled to be open until 10pm on 7/4. Does this mean they don't expect a crowd on the 4th of July?
