Is attendance going back to normal?

I'm thinking of planning a trip over Thanksgiving weekend, I know this is a busy time but as my kids are getting older I just can't pull them out like I use to. We were in WDW on Easter weekend and were surprised that the crowds weren't that bad. Do you think attendance is still low and Thanksgiving weekend may be more barable then usual or is attendance going back to normal?

I think that attendance is still low but Holidays and Saturdays (at the Magic Kingdom) are packed.

We still find Epcot on Sunday to be pretty easy to get around.

I will say though that with around 8 trips in since 9/11/01, we've seen a steady increase in crowds. Not where Disney would like it but still, it's getting better. The real indication is the off season...you can really see the lack or or increase in crowds on those days. The parking lot is another indicator.

I'd like to hear the official reports but attendance trends are kept pretty hush hush by Disney.

We're just back and did the parks from 9/8-9/11 and have never seen crowds as light as they were. (And we grew up going to WDW - neither of us remember seeing it this empty.)

Melissa R are you saying that the dreaded impact of FTP is not happening? Good news if that is the case as I was starting to worry about our October trip!

DH and I are thinking of a last minute trip to the World for Turkey Day as well. How are the crowds? We would come down on Wednesday and leave late Saturday night (driving from Indiana - UG!). Is it TONS more crowded than late Oct? We were at BC last year in Oct. Thanks!

The crowds were heavy in June of last year. The weather was also hotter than normal. After Thanksgiving it has always been light. I guess that is why they call it the off season. The time is great the number of people in the parks are down and the weather is great. We will be there dec 6th having a great time. I made my PS for Liberty Tree and they said that Tuesday the 9th was booked up I wonder what is up with that. Mon & Wed was ok?

Attendence is always extremely low right after Labor Day, until around mid October, so this is really not much different than usual. Most people don't want their kids missing school when it 1st starts, anyway.

I think that once October hits, it is going to be close to normal attendence for that time of year. I have heard that bookings for the resorts are up for that time, too!

Yes, I think that Thanksgiving weekend is likely to be really busy, but if that is the only time you can do it, then come on down. We will be waiting for you!

I had the very same question! DH and I are planning a last minute trip with the kids to the World over Thanksgiving weekend. Are the crowds completely unbearable, or will Fast Pass and PS's get us what we need?

From what we saw, the FTP didn't affect the crowds in a bad way at all. I know what you mean - I was very worried about it!!

If I'm not mistaken, the MVMCP is happening that night. Many of the folks who go to the party make PS's for that same night. You're sure to see a lot of DIS'ers there!
