Is Askershus dinner all you can eat?

My understanding is no. I think it is a cold buffet to start with salads and starter type things, you order your meal from the menu and then dessert is family style. Now, I don't know if you can request more dessert if you want it:confused3

the menu only has a few choices and it was stuff i was really unsure about after reading it..but we LOVED the food. for dessert they brought out 3 different things on one plate and we shared it...it was sooo yummy and plenty of food!

The appys are all you can eat, and are pretty darn good. The entree is ordered and brought to your table. As for the dessert, you get a family style platter brought out. We never asked for more, so I don't know if you can get it, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem....

I read in the Unofficial Guide that you can order more entrees if you are still hungry, but we didn't need to. After the yummy salads on the cold board and our one entree each we were stuffed. We went for dinner and thought it was the best, tastiest meal we had the whole trip. My kids DD (11) and DS (13) really liked the food. DD had the Norwegian meatball dish I can't spell, DS had the porkchops, DH had the salmon and I had the beef tips. We all tasted each others dishes. The beef tips were my least favorite.

We had one entree each, and then ate all we could handle at the cold bar lol! IDK about the desserts though. There were only 2 of us, and the 3 items were plenty!

Yes I do believe you may request another entree if you would like (something of a holdover from the original days when the entire meal was served from the buffet table). But the plated entrees are large enough that I didn't want a second. This probably makes for better quality food (a buffet is almost never the best example of its quisine) but I kinda preferred being able to sample a little of a lot of different things.
