Is AP worth it?

o.k., o.k. Have checked into all of it - Haven't really got a clue as to the best way to go yet. Would love an experts help.
Going May 21-28. Staying at CBR. Already booked but with no discounts. Planning to go to the parks at least 4 days. Universal maybe one day and then we have an extra day to do whatever.
Not gonna do the water parks or sports complex. May do Disney Quest.
Know if you get an AP that sometimes the discount is worth it for one person to get it and then the family get the other tickets.
So, should we just get all 4day-hopper passes? Does the discount with AP give you enough at a mod. to justify it if your going just this year?

Hi - Are you planning on going again next year? If so you can get two trips out of your tickets. If not and you are only going into the parks for 4 days it may not be worthwhile. Plus, you are NEVER guranteed annual passport rates. If AP rates come out for the time you are going to be there, call and see how much you will save on the room. You don't have to buy the AP before you book the room. If you save more on the room then it costs to upgrade one of you to an AP then it is worthwhile. I think mousesavers (www.mousesavers.com) also has historical info regarding AP rates. You can see if they were offered last year during the time you will be there and if so, what the rate was. That should give you some idea if it may be worthwhile for you. Also, the regular AP does not give you entry into Disney Quest. Have a GREAT trip that is full of Disney Magic.

8 days over the life of the pass (1 year) is the break-even point for park admission. We got 3 trips out of our tickets and 2 great sets of rates at Disney hotels, and other perks. It has been well worth it.

Is AP worth it ? You Bet !!

We are on our third set of AP's. One our first AP we had two trips totaling about 17 days. I thing the first trip was a MKC discounted room rate, but the second may have been an AP rate. After the first two trips we knew that we had "got the Magic" and were going to continue to come back.

The second AP was good for four family trips, and one additional solo trip for me. Between room discounts and 25 ~ 30 days of admission the passes worked out fantastic for us that year. In fact, we went so much that we needed a breather between the expiration of that AP and the purchase of the next. We wanted to got back feeling the desire to experience the MAgic again !

The last AP *REALLY* paid for itself ! We were able to get the AKL AP holiday rate . That discount alone saved us almost $1,600 off of rack rate. In addition, we were upgraded at checkin from standard to deluxe savannah - major pixie dust there ! Comparing what we paid for the room we received to what it is listed for that time of year we experienced a room discount of almost $3,000. On top of this, we have two more vacations scheduled at WDW this year totaling 18 more days onsite. Either way you measure it this time we will have made out like a bandit on this AP purchase.

Were our APs worth it? ... YES; however, we will have gotten 15 days of park admission as wells as room discounts on both of our trips. In your case, I don't know if it would be worth it. First, AP discounts aren't guaranteed, but usually if they are there are also room only codes that don't require an AP. They are not as good as the AP discounts but the difference in your ticket prices would more than offset that. Since you don't need the AP to make a reservation, I would just wait and see if AP rates do come out for your timeframe and then call to see if rooms are available. If they are, just do the math and see what is best for you. A good site to check on discounts is www.mousesavers.com If discounts come out, they will have them posted. Good luck.

You do not need to have the AP in hand to make the reservation. I would wait and see if a code rate comes out. It may be a little higher than AP rate but would save you from buying the AP if you are only going to the parks for 4 days.
