Is anyone planning (have planned) a trip REALLY far in advance?

Haven't you heard? 5 is the new 3! :lmao: :lmao: We used to spend 3 days but with all the new things going on, we do five.

For WDW planning I have a folder for my bookmarks too. I put helpful sites in there. I also have a folder on my desktop for word files. If I find something helpful someone said on the boards that I don't want to forget, I copy and paste it in to the document. I'm not printing anything out, just keeping it on the computer.

For DLR, I'm so familar that I just keep a folder of helpful sites but I don't have to remember special notes. I don't book a hotel until about 3-4 months out.

I'm already feeling sad that after our trip this July, we won't go again until next July. :sad2:

I keep both an excel spreadsheet and a work document for each trip. The word doc gets printed and put into my little binder when we go so we have all of the reservations and such handy. The excel spreadsheet helps me keep track of the budget, dinner plans and to do's for each trip.

I also have a binder for WDW that I have started gathering data in. I'm not sure when we'll get to use it but it's there when I need it.

Is that the video from the late 80's? If so, we have the same one! Love it! When we first took DS, he was 13 months and we would watch a little bit of that video each day before our trip! DS is now 8yrs old but we still watch the video occasionally!;)

Yup! It's so dated, it's hilarious. Like when they show the Splash Mountain part and it's super cheesy rap with the pop up words :rotfl:Looking at those hairstyles alone makes me laugh! When are they gonna come out with a new video? Don't they know we actually sit and watch these things? lol!

If I knew how to use excel, I'd probably do the same! I use Word and Publisher for my tables and charts :thumbsup2

I used to watch that video all.the.time. when I was a kid! It's the only reason I know the songs "Mainstreet USA" and "Making Memories"! I decided to look it up on YouTube last night with my 5 year old, and when Roger Rabbit came on screen she said, "Who's THAT guy?! That guy's not Disney!" :rotfl:

We have a Disneyland video that shows all the rides..I sorta compare it to what the planning videos are today only it SHOWS the rides. My brother got it in Disneyland in about 1994 so it is SUPER dated. But we like to watch it hahaha

I would totally buy a new video, if they came out with one. But for now, I guess we are lucky that we have YouTube to see certain rides like Pooh!

Publisher.....Love it!!!:)

Yeah even a 4th day would help. But at 5 you don't feel guilty sitting and people watching when you need a break. We usually do this in NOS..at French Market. Mmmm

Good point! I am really going to consider doing 5 days. If we went on vacation anywhere else we would go for at least a week so why not DLR? Plus, if we stay at Hojo's the room rates are so good.........

Exactly. And for us, we don't really go on trips..so when we go we wanna make it GOOD. :lovestruc

Hi, I'm planning a trip to DL in October 2013. We have been to DLRP 3 times and decided it was time to see the original. We hope to spend 10 days in California and 4 days in a return trip to Vegas where we were married last year. Two years seems a long time but we will be returning to Egypt in 2012.

The planning is all part of the fun!

I totally forgot they sell videos in the park! I wonder if they'll have some good ones when we go. I bought the Fantasmic! soundtrack at the park a while back and I totally listened to it all the time...until I lost it :(

Guess what I'm watching right now?

Making memories, making memories
Taking pictures is making memories
Catching little pieces of time
Making 'em yours, making 'em mine.......!!!!
:dance3:

We are! Not sure on the exact dates yet as we are going to plan it around a swim camp at either UCLA or UC Irvine! It will be in June, but not sure when. We are going to do a swim camp/Disneyland/Legoland trip. I am soo excited!

I just made hotel reservations last night for Feb 2012. :cool1: I can't believe how much less expensive it is to stay off-site!! I'm kind of picky about hotels, but decided to stay at PVI due to the full breakfast and the quick walk. Hopefully this is a good decision (fingers crossed).

I guess it's not really that far out, but it sure seems like it. We generally plan about 6 months out.

This will be our second DLR vacation. I've always started racking of Disney Visa dollars (been to WDW 3x), but with this being our first off-site stay, I'm not sure how to manage this part of my savings plan...

Looking forward to hearing about how everyone else plans.

My family is planning a trip next July, 2012. We went to WDW last Christmas and LOVED it! My DD (5) cannot wait to go back!

My DH will have graduated with his masters degree, so we are planning a BIG trip to Disneyland and Hawaii (July, 2012). Yikes! Needless to say, we have started saving.

I have always been a "lurker" and have finally decided to come out of the closet and post!

I love you guys!

We just booked 6 nights at the Grand Californian and park hoppers for October 2012!

Can't wait!

I am so jealous of those that are actually booking hotel rooms!! It is going to be awhile before we can do that.

I did think about starting up a spreadsheet yesterday, just to plug in approx costs etc.

Dh told me he thinks it would be fun if we had matching family/Disney shirts so I may pop over to the Creative board to check out different designs.

How are everyone else's plans coming along?
