Is anyone on the monorail loop incredibly frustrated?

We booked VGF for our "Splurge Vacation" this time around so that we could just "pop over" to the Magic Kingdom anytime we wanted to. Now, with the whole park reservation thing, I doubt that will be an option.

Is anyone in the same boat? It almost makes me want to throw in the towel.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a split stay coming up in August. BLT and BCV. I wanted to be able to hope over to MK while at BLT and Epcot and HS while at BCV. In another thread it was discussed that with no Extra Magic Hours and low capacity it doesn’t matter what park you go to what day anymore. But I picked my split stay resorts for that reason and I hope it still works out.

We are booked at CBR - so a similar transportation situation - and Skyliner was the big draw. Since we have hoppers the plan was Epcot for dinner most nights. This is a rebook from May or I would not have bothered with hoppers.

We did a split stay between Riviera and VGF for the same reason. As AP holders who visit 2-3 times a year we aren't super frustrated, but disappointed sure. I do get the frustration for those that booked a one time blow out trip though. If at all possible you should see it you can rebook to a cheaper resort once they open bookings again. I’d call now anyway just to inquire.

I do really wish now we hadn’t booked the split stay though. With Covid I’d just as well prefer to stay in our original room. We have our own car and will be driving to any park we can’t walk right into as we will avoid any mass transit we can avoid.

Yeah, we had planned on hopping every evening. Specifically booked Poly so we could walk over to the TTC and hop over to Epcot 3 of our evenings for dinner and MK for rides when it’s cooler in the evening. It will definitely be a different trip...

Same here, WL and BWV. Now I have the hassle of moving mid-trip possibly without any benefit. Watch me get Park entry to Epcot while I'm at WL and Magic Kingdom from BWV :crazy2:

Yeah, July Poly person here. For us it means a far different approach to a trip and probably one of the reasons (among several others) why we will probably not go as long as park hopping/park access is restricted. I don't blame Disney for setting up such a system and understand the rationale, it's just another detail that starts to tip the scale towards cancelling for us.

We have 12 nights at the GF starting 7/12. I’m hoping, but not expecting, that Disney will fast track the GF to MK walkway and that it’ll be open by the time we get there. Otherwise it’ll be the boat for us. I’m trying to go into this trip with a positive attitude.

I think it's similar for the Crescent Lake resorts, too, and the Skyliner resorts. Over two different split stays (in Oct and March 2021) I have reservations at AoA, BWI, BC, WL, and the Cabins at FW to be close to the parks we want to be at on different days. AoA, BC, and BWI offer simplicity in getting to DHS, which used to be the morning run for RotR boarding groups, and also Epcot. WL and FW get you to MK by easy boat. If it's one park per day now, and with timed entry, it doesn't matter as much about resort proximity.
Hmm, since we're driving in for our next trip, am I talking myself into trying PO, GDT, OKW, or AKL, which I usually nix because of bus-only transportation and being far from our main parks?

We have Poly in August and GF in November. I love jumping in a boat or on the monorail and walking into MK anytime I want, when I want. I LOVE evening EMH and planning my park days around them. I love my favorite restaurants that are must do’s every trip. If we keep August’s reservations, it’s going to take a lot to get used to. I honestly want to try to stay positive, but if I only get a couple of park days and none of my favorite restaurants, I’m not opposed to canceling. I just want to get all the answers and see how things pan out before I bail.

And I’m with you @DurangoJim about the walkway. It would be wonderful if they can get that done ASAP. They were moving pretty quickly until all this started. Let’s hope it’s done by summer! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 *wishful thinking*

I'm not frustrated yet as my reservation isn't until November (I really feel for those who have reservations between July through September!). For my milestone birthday (I'm turning 29 for the 32nd time!), I have GF-CL booked with plans to do a VIP tour, go to MVMCP and have dinner at V&A. Do you think any of that is happening? LOL!!! I'm with the PP's on this - just have to go with the flow. I have back-up plans in my head from a lower-key WDW trip to a zoom party. I'll just be happy to reach the milestone no matter what the day actually looks like. I totally understand why you might want to throw in the towel with the restrictions - maybe reschedule when that becomes an option? I would not want to splurge to get a restricted experience.

Happy 29th!!!! 😂 (love it!)

My Marathon Weekend trip was scheduled to be at the Beach Club, which is a splurge for me. Now that we are seeing this play out, I'm thinking of a move to AKL Savannah View when they open everything back up. To me, there is no draw staying near any park, and with the 10K and Marathon running by the Beach Club, the materials left for the races on the Boardwalk and in front of the Beach club the night before the races make it likely I wouldn't be as happy there. Besides, I may not even get park tickets now and that brings a new draw for AKL. I'd like to sit on the balcony and watch the animals and potentially just order room service the night before the marathon and when I get back from the marathon.

It is definitely going to make trips different and i can only imagine frustration

One of my scheduled trips with family is early August. While my Dd and her DBF will be going with me for sure, the rest of the group has not decided until we know if we are going to have park access every day and to which parks if we do.

Since we have no idea, just have wait!

Side note that I was posted somewhere that construction has started again, so sounds like at walkway. It certainly will be nice if one does get an MK park reservation to not have to do monorail or boat.

Excited about the walkway!!

I just booked August 10-13 at BLT (Lake View Studio) through the DVC Store for an amazing price. We were supposed to go down for a long weekend in April for a concert and got a 2-day ticket, so we'll have an opportunity to try to make park reservations.

In all honesty, we'll be jazzed even if we don't get to go to the parks. We'll just be happy to be there and on a much needed vacation.

I hear you. I have BWV booked in November for Food & Wine. Now, I'm not sure there will even be a F&W and even if they do we may not be able to just jump over to Epcot to snack around the world whenever we want. It's frustrating :(.
