Is anyone off work Friday because of Pres. Reagan?

Nope, not off. I work for a government contractor right in D.C. Since a day off for this would come out of the company's pocket (profit) none of us get the day off--so we get to put up with the road closures and gridlock that is supposed to start tomorrow. As for my government counterparts, they get the day off which is paid by the taxpayers. Lord knows the government is swimming in enough $$$$$ that they can afford to give all the government employees a paid day off. Yes, I know, sour grapes on my part. It just irks me that the government doesn't give a hoot about watching their spending.

I work in the Wall St. area, but my company is still open as far as we know. A friend of mine asked the HR department and they said that they didn't know as of yet. I'm hoping we get a memo soon saying we have off. Usually when the stock market is closed, so are we. And as far as I know, my DD still has school. She has Thursday off for Brooklyn Day. ;)

Both DH and I work for municipalities and we haven't heard about getting Friday off yet.

Gov. Rowland is declaring it a holiday and all State and Federal Offices will be closed, but we have heard nothing about the school system yet.

It would be nice to have a free day off . . but I'm not counting on it. DH was scheduled for a personal day anyhow, but having a long weekend would be awesome!

I could just see our Superintendent telling everyone there is no school . . .but all secretarial staff must report . . .

I work for a brokerage firm, and we're working despite the market being closed. Hopefully, we can at least let folks go early since they'll be nothing to do.

DH is in the Air Force... so I doubt he is off. I was off for the kids last day of school anyway, and yes, schools here are open.

I'm off, but only because I was scheduled to be off anyway. The company I work for is open.

I am, but onyl because I wasn't scheduled. We're flying to a wedding Friday anyway.

My DBF may have the day off but he's letting me know(care home aide) But he said something about taking the day off anyway

Yep, I work in the high school counseling dept. and our schools are closed. YIPEE, a long weekend.:p

I work in a school, and so far, we're not getting the day off. Some of the kids were groaning and moaning and whining about it - but then I questioned them about the late President, like "When was he elected?" "How many years was he president?" "Name three major policies/events he was known for" etc, no one could answer. I'm talking about high school kids, by the way...

Well, according to my DH since I'm a SAHM, "I'm off every day". Yeah, right!

Um, how about we NEVER get a day off.

That was a great way of dealing with those kids' complaints, Schmeck. I'll bet it made at least a few of them think a bit.

I hope all the people who DO have the day off (and also those of us who don't) will take the time to honor the late President in some way.

I work for a NY city agency but I dont think we are getting a day off. Guess they'll eventually make an official announcement.

As a government worker, and a member of our fine postal service, I do have off this Friday. However, I will wear the uniform in honor of the fine man who was President Reagan.

He was a fine president indeed, the president of my hayday. So in honor of his memory, I will raise a brewski.

Godspeed, President Reagan. Godspeed.
