I hope this doesn't make me sound like a loony, but I'm stuck in a major rut. Over the years POR has always held a special spot in my heart so I always try to stay there at least part of the trip. Now WL and AKL has done the same so usually I split AKL/POR or WL/POR.

As I'm sitting here planning May's trip I want to try a different resort mixed with one of the regulars, but then I think in the back of my head "I'll miss POR/AKL/WL too much" (whichever ones I'm cutting out in the plan)

Does ANYONE else do this? It's like I want to try new but can't stand the thought of missing my old. :confused3

I can sympathize. We have been to CBR for our last three trips, and feel like we are missing out on others. I was thinking about trying a deluxe, but I'm not a fan of the "no foodcourt factor" I have almost made up my mind to do CSR this time, but it's hard to deviate from the favorite.

You are not alone.....

I feel the same way about WL/POR as you do. So once we decided to give CSR a try. Guess what? We stayed 1 night and asked them if we could switch back to POR. How sad is that?? We usually do well with staying at a new deluxe, but for the mods, it's Dixie Landings or Bust! We have tried Poly, BC and CR. But we own at VWL, so our hearts belong there....
I feel your pain! :earboy2:

Oh that's me too. My heart belongs to POR. I tried CBR last time and really missed POR so we went there for lunch one afternoon and just spent the afternoon walking around.

This year I booked a ressie at CSR - the one moderate I haven't been to yet. I have been yearning for POR and was afraid that I would once again wish I was there. So.....a few days ago I called and switched the ressie to POR. And I am THRILLED. So, now I'll have dinner at CSR and check it out to see if I'll like it as much.

What is it about POR - we can't let it go.

I even said to the CM "I'm sorry I'm switching but my heart belongs to Riverside". She said Oh don't worry about it, it's okay. I felt kinda silly for not giving CSR a chance but I didn't want a second vacation at Disney yearning for POR.

WL is our second favorite too. :lovestruc

My DS7 sums it up best when we ask which resort has been his favorite. "They're all my favorites"! :teeth:

happybratpack,

I already made my reservation at CBR and got a great AP rate, but am rethinking my resort choice for my Feb trip. Of course it doesn't make you sound loony. You want to try something new, but ar afraid that you wont like it as much as your previous resorts.

I originally had DS & myself booked at PO/Riverside followed by 6nights at VWL
Since we're going in summer I changed VWL to BCV. DS still wants to get his WL fix so I changed Riverside to WL.
(And then I had another 3nights vacation time for this yr so I added on Pop to the beginning)

we love the Wilderness Lodge - thats why its our 2nd "home"

To me every onsite location offers its own magic. That's why we like to try different ones.

We've stayed everywhere from All Star Music to the Grand Floridian. Now that we own DVC we stay at our Boardwalk home a good deal but still try others as well. Last stay at Boardwalk was in '03. Last year we did Old Key West, Vero and Beach Club (the last two for only one night each before and after our cruise).

We never split resort stays. I'd rather get settled in once and then enjoy that resort. We also don't go for longer than a week. We like to mix up our vacations. This year we have a week at Boardwalk, then the DVC Member Cruise (with stays at Boardwalk for a day before and two days after) and then a long weekend out to Disneyland.

It is just DH and I and we love time away together at our favorite places!

Don't hesitate to try new resorts - like I said they all have something fun to offer!

We are the same. We really like POP for value and tried AKL over Xmas and loved it. I want to try many of the others, but guess where we are going over Easter...Pop, and over the summer... Pop and AKL

I'm stuck on Disney. We go at least once a year. Each resort has its own charm and I try to stay on property and plan meals at about 5 resorts each trip just for a visit.

:earsgirl:

Wow, you so hit the nail on the head with this! Dh and I feel this way about the CR!! We are so use to everything there and what they have to offer yet I feel like I would like to try something else/new... but am scared to, lol! The biggest thing holding us back from trying a mod or other (less-expensive) deluxe is the location/transportation issue. We have 2 dds - 6 & 1 and we really depend on quick/reliable transportation. CR has the best location for MK (our main park) and the monorail, so it's so tough to switch. If our youngest was older (maybe 4 or 5 at least) it would be easier to explore other choices (for us anyway).

Right now we are trying to plan our trip and we are stuck between Poly, CR, WL and CSR (maybe POFQ too). Ugh!

Anyway, sorry this is so long-winded. Just wanted to share that you aren't alone and we can definitely relate over here!

I loved Pop Century (the only disney resort I stayed at so far), but I'm planning on staying at POFQ in November. I'm a little sad that I won't be at POP again. But change is good. :)

my problem is that we usually stay at value. I am DYING to stay at the Poly, and dh is dying to stay at AKL (me to). We got a good price for AKL last summer, but dd had 2 friends coming, so we ended up with 2 rooms at Music. But we are really ever at the hotel, sometimes we go back to swim. But it just seems like SO MUCH MORE $$$$$, so i always end up booking the values........haha . i tell my husband when we hit the lottery, or if we go ALONE we will stay where we really want.....................and we would like to stay at CBR to, but we also like food courts, so that way , everyone likes something there to eat.

We just got home LAST NIGHT and I'm already tweaking our stay for April. Kids decided that they'd rather be at Grand Floridian than the CR TOWER :earseek: . Just sent an email to Sue Ellen about this change. Our quick trip toescape the cold was great, unfortunately the kids are as bad as I am, DD9 said last night " I miss Disney ALREADY!" Ditto for me!

Not us. We have been onsite 6 times in 7 different places. Former Dixie Landings, Fort Wilderness trailer, Disney Institute, Contemporary & former Port Orleans(same trip), AKL, and BWV. Now we'll be in a rut because we bought into DVC, so it will always be BWV. Not that that's a bad thing! :earseek:

my brother is the same - always wants OKW....

My mother would probably like to stay in the same place - but hey variety is the spice of life...

May trip only staying at SSR - an exchange no choice

July trip - AKL (got the postcard) 2 nights, VWL 2nights, and then BCV 2 nights....

both SSR and AKL are new ones!!!

however I will stay at least once this year at OKW...long time favorite!

now without the postcard - I really doubt I would go in July - much too hot - but I was already going in May - and both April and June are too close to May...

For those afraid to move from the moderates to deluxe and leaving food court dining, AKL food court, Mara, is underrated, IMO. We've been to all moderates but Mara, at AKL, is just as good. We didn't find ourselves eating anything different at the moderates over Mara. They have basically all the same foods, including Mickey waffles for breakfast. This is now are favorite deluxe since we basically only eat at food courts with our small kids (5 and 2). FYI for anyone interested.

Nope, not a rut, I just equate going to DW with staying at the Poly. I've had people ask if I wanted to try another resort, no way, I just wouldn't go if I couldn't stay there. For me, where I stay is part of the experience, and I'm sure all of you have your favorite place to stay. Just a personal choice.

We find this happeining when we start to plan. But we just force ourselves to try something new and lo and behold we find another one we like. Granted most of our stays are short so that helps a little. I think if we were going to do a longer stay, we would opt for our favorite and maybe try a different level of service.

I love every place I stay, but I change my reservations SEVERAL times before we finally arrive! I now know to split my stays. I will not repeat a resort until we have sampled them all! So I guess I'm not in a rut, I'm just nuts.
