Is Anyone Else SO Excited About Aulani?

Yeah, the layover is going to be a problem - but here's my sneaky plan.....

I'm going to book a 2 night stay in LA (hopefully at VGC) and do a quick stop in Disneyland on either the way out or the way home from Aulani. That way we fly from Chicago to LAX - enjoy some mouse time, then fly out to Hawaii for a week or so. Then jump the long flight back or vice versa.

Heck, maybe I'll just make it 2 nights on the way out and 2 on the way back.

:-)

Hey, I can dream, can't i?

Sounds like a great plan to me!

I'm hoping to add a few nights at Aulani to our Jan 2012 Kauai trip.

That is not just something that most people opt to do "regularly". It is also cost prohibitive for many. You must count yourselves blessed and fortunate to not find the cost for yourselves + 5 kids a financial nightmare to do "regularly". Personally, that kind of airfare expense is the main reason not to go more often, even more than the time factor.

I do count myself fortunate :littleangel: We use our frequent flyer miles for most of our trips: 1 family trip and 2 or so trips just the two of us. When we go to the caribbean, we have a layover in Miami which does make for a long trip. But, it is worth it.

That's our plan. :)

I'm also in the camp that's excited about it, but will not buy there. But can't wait to go and check it out it looks like it will be loads of fun!

Our plan is to fly in San Francisco. Go to the Disney museum. Then fly out the next day to Hawaii arriving mid day. On the way home fly into LAX, go to Disneyland for a couple of day and then fly home from John Wayne airport.

What a great idea! I used to live in SF and they've got great restaurants...(although the streets aren't very kid friendly due to the amount of homeless ppl).

Another great plan! See the distance and layover isn't so bad.

Talked to a guide today while at Disneyland and he said that there is an event scheduled at the Grand Californian for June 30 to publicize the Aulani resort. They might announce the points at that time.

Frankly, as a west coaster, Aulani being on the plans was a HUGE draw for us when deciding to buy DVC! It's the same flight time to get to WDW (and that's IF we can get a nonstop, using FF miles sometimes we can't) as to Oahu. We definitely would like to alternate years between Hawaii and WDW. We have been to Hawaii twice, and our kids are begging to go back. 2012 it is! Now just to wait on the points charts. We would buy there if we felt it was worth it, once we go. Our plan for now is to bank our 2011 points for our 2012 planned Aulani trip. :thumbsup2

I am confident I will be able to get rooms at the 7 month window if I am flexible on my dates.

I'm looking to retire in 2012, so a visit to Aulani will be a part of my CELEBRATE RETIREMENT TRIP. DH and I will spend 2 weeks on Kauai, 1 week on the Big Island and then depending on the number of points needed for Aulani, spend some time at Aulani and head back with a stop at Disneyland. So looking forward to it!:banana::banana:

I spoke to a guide last Saturday and she said that there will be a special event at the Grand Californian at the end of June at which they will make announcements about Aulani. I asked if the points would be announced then and she said that she couldn't say. When I pushed on that point, she said that all she was permitted to say was that there was going to be an event.

Maybe we'll have details by the end of the month!
