Is anyone else paranoid about hurricanes?

I wouldn't book a trip to Orlando in August or September, simply because of hurricaines. Even if the brunt of a hurricaine doesn't hit Orlando, I would think that there would or could be a lot of rain associated with it, and I'd rather not take a chance of my trip being affected by the weather....even though there can be rain and thunderstorms any time, I suppose. But that's just me....and I tend to be a bit too cautious with most things.

I can totally see your logic on that one. If you are a person who's trip would be ruined or really unenjoyable because of a lot of rain then it makes sense not to travel that time of year.
Me? I love the rain. In fact I just got married and it was threatening to rain heavily the week up to my wedding day and I wasn't the least bit concerned. Simply didn't care.
But I hate HUGE crowds so I would avoid any peak time of year even if it was free.
Everybody has their vacation preferences...I don't think that is too cautious:goodvibes

This will be our 5th year to goto disney in September. The weather has always been very nice. WE usually fly from pgh but this year we are driving. I don't think a hurricane will effect us but I am unsure about tornados. Do you think septmeber is also tornado season? And does I95 get hit with many tornados? If we are driving and a tornado hits what should we do?

So does that mean you don't book trips for the entire hurricane season running from June 1st through November 30th?

you are more likely to get a tornado in AL, MS or Ga - hurricanes do produce tornado - but generally not that close to where the hurricane is located.

also tornado are just impossible to predict. they come and go so fast.

if driving and you see tornado - get out of the car and into a ditch - fast - don't wait. you can't outrun these things.

don't get under the Interstate - the engineers say that is a bad plan - the IS will not stand up to a direct hit from tornados.

don't remember any on I95 - several along I75 - just don't remember I95 - it gets hurricanes generally.
