I can't believe there is no discussion of Home on the Range being the last traditionally animated film released by Disney. It seems no one cares.

Disney used to have that whole list of every animated film and during mid-June it was "Don't miss the 35th full-length animated feature!"

When I think Disney I think of the 40 something animated features, even before I think WDW. And Disney is just leaving this behind without really even saying goodbye. It is a real shame.

It is one thing to make more CGI features, but to completely abandon traditional animation is a travesty. And yeah, good time to start releasing only CGI after what made you so popular in that field is gone (Pixar)!

This is a sad, sad time.

IMO, I give it a few years, then Disney will slide back into animation. Don't worry yourself yet. It'll just take time (and a new CEO, and the riddance of Michael Eisner.....)

I agree, I think once Eisner is gone animation will be back.

This is what you're stressed out about?

I wish I had your problems! :p

Admittedly, I've only seen one or two short trailers for the new movie, but it looks like the animation is going out with a shrug instead of a decent picture.

Outraged? No.

Very disappointed? Yes.

But I agree -- get the right CEO in there, and Disney will bring it back.

No, this is not a huge problem it my life. But this does mean that Disney as we know it is over for the time being.

Horrible business decision IMHO, after giving Pixar the axe, you drop one of the most profitable departments in the history of your company to rely on an untested genre. Yes, Disney is untested in CGI because they really have one film in that area without Pixar. That was "Dinosaur" which was a flop.

I can see this decision, if it is stuck with, ruining the Disney legacy. This is the biggest mistake in Eisner's history and the history of the company.

I'm not too concerned yet. I don't know how much more traditional animation there is to be done. Look at all the Disney animation library titles. Is it reasonable to expect more movies of the quality of the classics we already have?

Traditional animation is incredibly expensive and time consuming. The way of the future is CGI. Not only in animated features, but in all movie genres. Although I think traditional animation is nice, I equally enjoy the CGI features. I doubt that it will have much of an impact on the number of people seeing and buying the films. As a stockholder, I think it is a fairly sound decision. JMHO.
