Is anyone else having problems getting ressies

If there is a DVC availability issue would be nice if they would allow a ressie at one of the resorts for same amount of points say as your Home resort. Now the fee...I dunno bout that one would be nice to see it waved, but hey Disney is a business lest we forget....pirate:

Here, here! I agree, and think it's wrong for them to charge that $95 for WDW resorts! I just don't "buy" the reason JL gave...things didn't all have to be the same, or simplified.

Yes, in my mind, it's quite simplistic. Charge a fee for 3rd party trades (e.g., concierge or II/RCI), and no fees for anything on WDW properties! ::yes:: I could write up detailed business requirements on that one in about 5 minutes! :rotfl2:

I want a woodsy WDW experience sometime with my DGC, (we stayed at FW cabins with our DS's twice when they were growing up, and I loved it!!!) but I'm not paying a $95 fee for the ability to spend more points than I think reasonable. Even this crazy:crazy: DGM has her limit! I hope non-SSR owners can get into a treehouse sometime!

Disneypirates85, '08 was the first year that the $95 fee was charged. Like the fees for baggage on airlines, it's a newer nuisance fee. So, maybe we're just "old timers" looking at the olden, glory days:rolleyes:

We own a week and use RCI for banking and exchanging our week. If we do not use our home resort (which we never do use that week) we bank it and to exchange the week to a different resort it costs $189. :sad2:

We have been DVC for 5-6 yrs now and this is the FIRST year that we were NOT able to get our first choice resort at 7 mos ???

we wanted BCV and could not get it for 7 days in the first 2 weeks of May that we needed. we ended up booking AKV....

now we are owners at BCV but didn't know at the 11 mo mark we wanted to stay there:confused3 ...so gaff on us...but

come on...no studios at BCV 7 months out for 7 straight nights??? I was honestly surprised. May has never been a problem yet.

so...yes...I am noticing a difference.....

I've noticed a difference the last few times I've called. The only openings have been OKW and SSR.

However, (maybe its a sign of the economic times?), when I called in Decemeber for an upcoming trip In June, I was able to get our 1st choice of BCV!

On the other hand, my brother recently tried to book a studio for the begining of April but was told that there were no openings.

:hourglass always at home resort BW seems their are never enough rooms for us to go home to but plenty of renteres and convention people. DM had tried to check in and the woman next to her also trying to check in were both told that they had been "reassigned" to SS. This is not the first time people who have owned for over 15 years not being able to get a "decent" room the one overlooking the imaginary trash cans!

:hourglass :hourglass

Only when I'm a dummy and I try and book a studio during spring break.

Last week.

Like I said, dummy!

We're waitlisted along with the other snowballs...lol...

Our VWL dec 09 at the 11 month window was no problem at all to book. :thumbsup2

ETA: I just checked the DVC website and  we got it! So now I'd have to answer the question as no, haven't noticed any problems with booking. The kids are going to be *stoked*!

Sorry, I didn't understand your post. Do you mean that when you were checking in for your stay at BW you were reassigned to Saratoga Springs???

Can they do that??

A lot of people need to read this....

This is in large part a result of the flexibility of the system irregardless of all the other factors. Basically every person that buys is buying points for when THEY want to go and the demand is not the same for all days of the week or all times of the year. The points differentials will account for this to a degree but never completely and given DVC hasn't reallocated the points, the equation has also gotten somewhat skewed over the years. Like most timeshares, the system is sold assuming total occupancy other than down times such as maintenance or unavoidable loss of rooms when something happens. Thus everytime a unit is unreserved or goes to breakage inventory, there are a certain amount of orphaned points floating around without a room available for them.

Plus you get a lot of members who don't want to spend the points on the high weekend nights. So they only stay Sun-Thur. I'd bet there are a lot of weekend nights available at DVC.
