But our flight is scheduled to land at MCO on Thurs at 7:30...which probably wont happen. Oh well, the next few days will tell. We will call Disney and airlines and talk about "what ifs"

We are leaving in just a few hours and will be there before, during and after Ernesto does whatever it is going to do.

I just hope and pray that it breaks up over Cuba and we just get rain. I am hoping that we are not caught in the middle of something bigger.

I was on vacation in the '70s in Mobile, Alabama when a hurricane hit. It is something I remember to this day. Not a fun experience.

Current projected path has it going over Cuba, being downgraded to a 1, then entering the Gulf and skirting the entire west coast of FL as a 3 or more before coming ashore somewhere near the elbow area (sorry not sure what cities are up that way). As it passes over FL it should downgrade to a 1 before popping into the Atlantic as a 1. From there who knows.

That area of Florida is called the Big Bend area. This, in fact, is the best place for ANY hurricane to hit Florida. There are not a lot of people who live there because that area is nothing but swamp land. Lots less damage to the state if every hurricane would hit here...lol. I need to invent a hurricane magnet.

"Looks" like with the new update, it will make landfall on the west coast on Thursday a.m. approx. 8:00 a.m. (That seems to have moved up since earlier). But you will probably see it change in the next few days.

"Update" seems to be the key word. Next update could have it headed somewhere else entirely--or back toward the Gulf--or East of Florida--or on the same most recently forecast path.

I wasnt concerned till this am. Weather channel has it moving over northern Flo.Fri. am. just when we're flying in. I'am not crazy about flying and the thought of a bumpy ride makes me nervous.

This thread is making me feel a lot better about leaving tomorrow for Disney. I can handle a day of rain and boredom. However, I am seriously concerned about my travel partner. I am afraid she will want to cancel as soon as she finds the hurricane has shifted position. She may not even know there is a hurricane yet, since she has been away at a soccer tournament this weekend.

I am due to print our my boarding passes later this afternoon and we leave tomorrow afternoon. Sounds like we won't know too much more about this storm until tomorrow. Part of me thinks I should call and consider canceling and the other part of me says, "Big deal, I'm going anyway".

Nothing like a little last minute stress.......

I was already a little nervous about flying, now a plane crash this morning and a hurricane forecast to hit Florida...what else???

We are still going, leaving tomorrow bright and early and don't head back home until Sept 2nd.

I am so happy that the disboards exist and that so many have posted in the past about hurricanes while at Disney. I feel we will be safe, possibly quite wet...but it will be all be OK.

Best wishes to everyone, I pray this thing stays low grade, and does as little damage as possible wherever it hits.

The new track is taking it very close to Orlando. I understand why a lot of you are nervous, but please keep this in mind. The storm looks like it will spend 2 days over Cuba. If this happens, it is VERY likely it won't be much of a storm when it arrives in the gulf. Hope this helps. My prayers are with all of you and for all who are in the path of the storm.

going a little o/t here sorry..

we should be going to a park every day except the day we leave (6 day pass with no hopper and expires after 14 days). what happens if lets say we can't go to the parks for 1 or 2 of the because of the hurricane. we are staying at por however....we didn't buy the passes from disney we bought them from undercover ticket agent (got them from mousesavers). do we get credited for those extra days ?

I don't imagine Disney will refund expiring passes unless you bought them from them. However on the day of the storm if they should close early, in the past they let Disney resort guests in without charging them a ticket.

I don't imagine the parks will be closed entirely for complete days. You might have one day where they close early and one day where they open late.

Planning a Four Night/THree Day trip - and having it falling apart.....

You will not fly into Orlando during the hurricane, you can remove that from your worries. You might get delayed leaving, but they will not put you in the air with a storm coming.

Interesting. I hadn't heard of this before. How do they know that they are going to close early and whether to accept a ticket for admission or not?

In the past, Disney gives out hurricane passes to those who are on property during a hurricane. The passes are hoppers and have an expiration after 10 years.

Don't know what happens if you are staying off property.

Well, we are watching it here, with great interest. No possible way to predict where it will hit at this time. (On a Sunday afternoon in a sunny Tallahassee.)

But if I had a trip to WDW planned during storm season, there's no way it would change my plans one little bit.

i completely agree with this for anyone not in FL/AL/MS/LA/TX/NC. But i never, ever make a trip during cane season. i need to be here protecting my own(especially after personally experiencing Ivan, Arlene, Cindy and Dennis in under a year)! here's hoping for everywhere!

We are leaving 9/1 and though most of the bad stuff will be north of Orlando by then I am concerned about flight delays and airports closing. We'll be keeping an eye on this storm for the next few days.

My last two trips to Disney had us stuck in an airport for 14 hours because of a few inches of snow in Feb. We said we would never book in the winter again so the next trip was April - my niece broke her ankle three days before we left and an Amtrak accident derailed our Auto Train plans. Now this hurricane. Someone seriously doen't want us hanging out with the mouse! We made it to Disney despite all those obstacles and we are determined to make it this trip.

I hope all of you that will be there this week have safe travels and not too much incovenience!

Well, Gov. Jeb Bush has declared a state of emergency in FL, and visitors have been ordered to evacuate the FL keys.

I'm thankful our trip isn't until the following week but since I live in Fl already and in Tampa, right where it is currently projected to make landfall, I can honestly say that I would rather be at WDW than at my house.

If nothing else everyone should be thankful this storm is on the west coast. That means regardless of where exactly it hits, it has a bit of land to travel before getting to Orlando and as others have said, WDW is far enough inland that the impact shouldn't be anything tragic.

The best scenario would be a quick moving storm like Charley where although the impact was terrible in some parts, the hurricane moved through in like an hour. I know because I endured the horror of it myself. At least that way, it would only disrupt a small part of the trip. The hurricanes I dread are the ones that are slow and linger for awhile. That can mean several dreary stormy days with power outtages. Let's hope that isn't the case with this.
