Is anyone else disappointed with the NoJ lineup?

The band lineup they have this year are very disappointing. With so many really great bands out there getting LOTS of mainstream radio airplay, the ONLY one that's represented is 12 Stones. No POD. No Chevelle. No Switchfoot. No Shinedown (who are a "local" band no less!).

I won't be bothering to buy a ticket.

Several of the bands you mention are on tour and unavailable. One or two of them are playing at Universal's Christian rock night (which is coincidentally scheduled to be at the exact same time as NOJ).

But even though the bands aren't in the mainstream, you may just discover some great new talent. Every band you like and listen to now was an unknown at some point.

I thought the lineup sounded great! Third Day, FFH, Newsboys, etc - sure wish I could go!

I have to admit I've never heard of the ones you mentioned except Switchfoot. I know the name but none of their music (well, nothing that I know is them! You know how they play songs on the radio and never tell you who the artist is! ).

Sorry, NONE of the bands I listed are playing at Universals event. And I know for a fact that Chevelle and Shinedown are both available those nights.

And trust me, I have my ear to the ground as far as unsigned bands go...none of these are "Christian" but check out www.skylermusic.com, www.suspect.ca, and www.drivermusic.net

POD and Shinedown were originally on the Universal schedule (or at least on the schedule I saw months ago), which is why I assume Disney didn't book them. I didn't realize they were no longer performing at Universal.

As for the others, it could be that they didn't WANT to perform at NOJ -- some bands don't like the theme park atmosphere -- or it could be that they were too expensive or that they never returned the call. It happens. Who knows? At any rate, keep an open mind. Just because a band's not in the mainstream doesn't mean it won't still be a great music night. Just because you don't think they're really great bands doesn't mean they're not.

roflmao ... You know for a fact do you? Sounds like you're their manager. Talking to them recently, were you?

I have to agree that I think the line-up sounds awesome and I'm really bummed out that I can't make it. I think there's a really mixture or both mainstream and not-so mainstream.

As a matter of fact, I do some odds and ends of work for Chevelle and Shinedown's management company. So yes, I do know for a fact that neither was asked to perform. Next time you want to flame someone, make sure you know what you're talking about first, other wise you're the one looking

I assume you're talking about Night of Joy here, in which case I'm surprised at the sniping I'm seeing. Let's get our joyful attitudes back out, shall we?

Woah. Kitty can scratch.

My apologies, Cleo. I was just joking around. I didn't mean to come across as sniping. Hence the

I agree that the music line up could be a bit different. I'd like to put together a week of Joy, with a good mix for the lineup. I'd like to see less contemporary and more rock, bring in the teens and young adults. I like the contemporary artists, but there are soooo many good punk/rock/alternative artists.

Of course the contemporary artists get the parents excited, which then in turn gets the kids excited, and before you know it they are on the DIS planning like a madman trying to get that perfect trip to WDW :)
