Is anyone else disappointed with the BLT or THV fiasco

As for the view, I really think the lake view will be great. Even better than the MK view. Plus, you'll be able to view the fireworks up top on the observation deck. Remember, a long time ago at the Contemporary, they charged more for lake view than park view. I think you'll be very happy with the lake view.

You are right Lugnut! I think we will hear that aside from the fireworks, the MK view will not be all that is expected. It is also the parking lot view, bus stop view and possibly even 'back stage' view. I know I for one had the vision of looking right down Mainstreet USA. Kind of back to reality when we checked out the Contemporary in January. We much preferred the serenity of the lake.

This may seem harsh so I apologize in advance but we are making reservations for vacation not doctor's appointments or surgery. Just trying to keep things in perspective. I happen to have gotten my first choice for the dates I preferred but I also was prepared to make adjustments if necessary. That said, everyone is a member and will be going back again and again so what may not come to fruition for this 1st BLT trip will hopefully happen in the future. I wish you all the best of luck with waitlisting your preferred rooms and hope everyone has safe and enjoyable travels this year.

Keep things in perpective here on the DVC boards? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: .

Even though I also expected it, I still thought it was big fiasco. It took 3+ hours of busy signals and holding to make our reservations. I am not a call center expert, but I think DVC could have handled things better....whether booking THV or BLT different days, adding call attendants, whatever. I went through this when Kidani opened, although not half as bad. I can't help but think that if only one resort (like Kidani) was open for booking yesterday, it would have been better.

We did get the MK view that we wanted. We did have to change our dates though. I always have a back up plan when making our DVC reservations. It's just not realistic to think you'll get your first choice every time.

I'm not a BLT owner, so I didn't try to book anything yesterday. But, I do feel badly for those of you that were shut out of your dream MK View. When I considered purchasing at BLT, my foremost thought was how cool it would be to sit on my balcony to watch Wishes ... heck, didn't DVC even promote that ideal in their sales materials for BLT?

Again, I'm sorry. I think it stinks and I think you have every right to be disappointed. I hope your waitlists come through!

:goodvibes indeed good luck to all!

okay, now about me:laughing: , was hoping to grab a MK view studio for T/F/S beginning 12/10 stay after cruise...do u think they r long gone already:eek: ?

Yes because it is just another reflection of management not caring about the members or even the agents manning the phones.

everyone who didn't get the view they wanted, get on the waiting list right now.

remember - they are only booking the rooms that have been declared in to inventory. They only declare rooms based on bow many points are sold. The rest of the reservations will be only cash only through DRC. So as more points are sold, more inventory can be declared into dvc and more dvc rooms will be available. so if you are way at the top of the waiting list you should have a good chance it will come through.

Exactly, despite the "magic" around here, Disney is just a large vacuum sucking as much money from humanity as possible.

Then again, it could have gone: "In order to provide shorter wait times and improve the experience of those owners seeking to make first-day reservations at THV and BLT, we are increasing the MFs for all owners to cover the additional costs of new phone lines and overtime for our MS representatives."

Oh sure, the extra expense might not have been all that much. But a few hundred here and a few thousand there, and pretty soon you're talking real money! ;)

Then can I ask, why in the world did you buy, or still own DVC? Or even still visit? Disney has every right to charge as much as they want, when people stop paying it, then they'll have a problem and change. How is it you did not plan for this? Should Disney have gave it more thought, yeah. On the other hand, they may have just decided to get it done and over with. It was going to be this bad even if the THV weren't on the list to reserve. THV is for larger groups where as BLT is going to be from one person on up. A lot more people were calling for BLT than the THV, IMO. So yeah, people who bought at BLT were going to have a difficult time getting the ressie you wanted. Once again, how did you not think it was going to be tough?

I hope your right.
DH isn't as disappointed as I am over this.
I think it is because for months I have been thinking of just relaxing after a long day and watching the fireworks from the room.
Then the time it took to get through was just exasperating.
This really wasn't thought out very well by Disney.:lmao:

so sorry!

just look at this way - next year you will definitely get it!!!

the problem with the phones is they have less workers on Sunday than Mon-fri.

It was quiet - NEVER talked to member service before and it was quiet. So asked.

she say that management tried to get other to come in - but they couldn't.

what can you say - DVC management blows it again by thinking the world goes around him. and people can just change their prior committments - because he wants it that way.
:rolleyes1

Sunday probably has the least amount of CM.

there were prepared for March 1 - they were not for Feb 8. :sad2:

Another thread claimed there were nearly 200 reps working Sunday morning. :confused3

After getting past the busy signals, the worst wait time I had was 25 minutes. Last year when folks were doing day-by-day bookings for early-December, wait times of 45+ minutes were commonplace. And for the member cruise bookings people have waited hours.

I just think that we have a bunch of members who had never experienced wait times during these peak busy periods. :confused3

Nope, because I expected it.

One of the problems is the limitations of Disney's phone system and it's unrealistic to expect them to upgrade to meet once every few years demand.

Also, I waited until later in the day and as expected got thru fairly easily and got what I wanted. In truth there were probably VERY few things that HAD to be booked this morning.... ANY MK views LOL, Christmas... and that's probably it. So if those of you booking those could have convinced others to do like me, it would have been easier.

That said I think that MK view is going to be TOUGH from here on out! If that's the ONLY reason you bought... this could be rough. It's a limited number of units at any given time

That said call back and waitlist. As Disney declares units in based on sales you just might get one of those declared in units with the view you want!

Not to mention all the people dialing in on any where from 2 to 5 phones - there is simply no system that can handle all that extra "one time" activity.

I would imagine there were lots of changes today and more than one waitlist filled already. I'm sure there were multiple instances of multiple bookings that once sanity returned people realized the dates just wouldn't work for whatever reason. I suspect we will continue to see changes in the upcoming weeks and months.

It also will be interesting to see what pops up for rent in the coming weeks.

I will say the agent I dealt with could not have been more pleasant and professional. I am pretty sure it was not her decision to change the dates, either.

This sounds exactly like the higher ups where I work. They are on vacation or off on weekends & holidays but expect the worker bees to be available on demand for every little crisis which is usually caused by one of their boneheaded directives or decisions.

when I called that wasn't true. It was quiet. when everyone is there and working you can here the others on the phone. this time quiet...

I think during the week there are 250 reps.

now I agree with that last statement - remember way back when you called on thursday night (the only night they stayed late) or Monday morning - you get a busy signal for hours - only to be on hold for an hour or more. So Sunday was not too bad.

Is ther not still the chance that several LV rooms also have a fireworks view from their balcony (just not from the bathtub?)
Request high and near MK view?

Looks like you all have better phone systems than I because I started calling every 10 seconds on my phone at 8:55am and did not get thru until 1:30pm. (using a cell phone) Then I was on hold for 30 minutes then another 2 hours to get reservation sorted out. Also, lost out on July 1st and 2nd for THV. VERY POOR Planning on DVC's part!

I did the redial thing for over an hour and waited half hour on hold for my DIL's ressie at BLT. NOW they decided not to go in sept but Oct. So I start all over tomorrow.
