I just can't belive that reality shows have come to this. It seems like it is just an add for Plastic surgery. I really think this is sick!! No, I didn't watch it...I just saw the ads.

Plastic surgery and then a beauty pageant...???
 :worried:

It just seems obscene.

I agree. I refuse to watch this one. I think it sends a message to young girls that it is what they look like that counts and then people wonder why so many little girls have eating disorders. It is very sad what this society has come to.

I'm disgusted by the whole concept. Women are disfiguring their bodies to compete AGAINST each other, based on looks that aren't really even their's to begin with????

Nope, I'm not watching.

To play devil's advocate, they did look a LOT better and they will (in most cases, unless they are emotional nut jobs like that Karen last night) be substantially more confident women as a result of this ...

I sat down in front of the television last night intending to watch one episode to see what it was all about and judge for myself. I only lasted 4 or 5 minutes - the first woman's obvious emotional fragility and her description of adolescent cruelty imposed on her was so disturbing to me I couldn't stand to watch any more.

It brings back every insecurity and bad feeling you had as a teenager when you're trying to fit in.

I agree that it teaches the wrong message about looks being everything. And the competition element just pushes the whole thing over the edge.

I won't watch this show ever again.

That one girl did not look better, imo -- she looked more porn star-ish though! :p A tad tooooooo heavy on the silicone!

I just had to see what that show was all about and ended up wathing the whole show to find out the results. I also couldn't believe that someone made this into a reality show. The whole thing was very bazaar. At the end, both women looked very very very different. It really was a big transformation including big upper lips that didn't move when they talked. They end up sending one girl to the pageant and the other one home. It frustrates me because at the end there were two women with the "perfect" body, "perfect" hair and face again and it almost seems like the show is trying to sell that image again just like the media does all the time. This show also reminded me of that MTV show with the people who want to look like their favorite celebrity. That show was just freaky, especially those twins who were obsessed with Brad Pitt and then ended up not looking like them at all!

um yeah - the blonde (Kelly?)...she definetly looked like she had issues with her upper lip.

and with all that hair and breast-age...she looked like a drag queen in my opinion. she looked like she wasn't even happy with the end result when she finally saw herself.

Rachal did look like she totally immersed herself into this makeover...however, she looked so completely different.

I, personally, don't agree with *plastic surgery* like this unless you REALLY have something physically wrong with you. (not just overweight or a sagging chest.) I mean birth-defect wrong with you.

I'll still watch this show...cause I'm sick like that...but, and this is so cruel of me to say...I actually felt BETTER about MYSELF after watching that show.

Disregarding the bodies and the weight loss, and considering just their faces, you would argue that they didn't look any better at the end? That surprises me. I thought that the teeth alone made a tremendous difference.

Dana -- No, I didn't really think they looked "better", per se. They looked like women who had a ton of plastic surgery. I thought that their teeth were o.k. looking to begin with, I guess.

This show is a little different for me than Extreme Makeover -- where they select people who are almost disfigured. Both of these women looked fine to me beforehand -- not swans, but not ugly ducklings either. The after effect looked plastic to me.

I should also add that I've always found people who are not perfect pretty so much more attractive than those who look sculpted. I like things like crooked teeth, or a crooked nose or some such - I think it gives character that translates to overall attractiveness, I guess.

I think the whole idea is disgusting, also. These women seem to have a ton of emotional issues that need to be addressed more than their outer beauty. If they think just making themselves look a little bit better is going to solve all their problems, they are mistaken.

Personally, I think the women looked very plastic after they came out for their "reveal".

Also, wouldn't you want to pick your own surgeon and dentist to perform such extreme procedures? I wouldn't just go with whomever was chosen for me. I'd want to do some research first.

I think the whole show is ridiculous. It is so dramatic and rehearsed, and the hostess really bugs me.

It's just a shame that society is putting so much pressure on people to make them want to go to such extremes.

I watched it also last night. I liked it because it is a makeover show. I like to watch the makeovers. Emotionally though.........it was sad to watch the both of them. Makeover stories usually show a nicer ending, this show doesn't. I'm going to still watch it, but maybe not the entire show. Probably the first and last 5 minutes to see the before & afters. The emotions were just too much. I would have liked for them to show more of the counselling that the women receive and the strides they make during those 3 months.

My too-big nose thanks you. :D Actually, that's the reason I've never gone for a nose job. How can anyone have "character", if everyone looks the same?;)

LOL GH. Perhaps its because I have a hook nose and crooked teeth myself that I find it attractive in others. :)

Amanda Byram. Same twit from that Paradise Hotel crap-fest.

Honestly - could she repeat things ANY MORE??? I was about ready to throw my remote at the screen during the "I'll ask you to walk to the curtain where there is a mirror, I'll ask you to let me know when you are ready to see the mirror after walking up to the curtain which hides the mirror...blah blah blah"

I didn't think either one was "ugly" or anything to begin with. This show is just unbelievable! What next? Let's see how much
un-like yourself you can look? These people are married (so far) and I wonder how their spouses handel all this? And they make this so dramatic...(not that it's not a dramatic thing, but these shows as a whole...) ooooh, let's see what's behind curtain number 1. BLAH! DUMB!

I thought the blonde looked ..... eh ..... not that great after they got done with her. The hair...ugh. It looked so fake!

These shows are just getting more and more over the top.

It reminds me a bit of extreme makeover..which I watch sometimes. But at least extreme makeover is not having them parade around in a contest.

This whole concept of making them look great and then put me in a beauty contest just sends the wrong message out to everyone...not just young girls.

OH yeah...I also have one of those lovely Polish noses...I used to want it fixed when i was younger because kids can be cruel. As I got into my teens I realized that people have to like me for who I am, not what i look like. I have never lacked for friends..male or female. My oldest DD has the same nose and wants surgery for it. She hasn't come to the same conclusion as me yet. If she decides in the future..when she is over 18, has a job and can pay for it herself, she can do what she wants to it. I will try to talk her out of it but it will be her dicision in the end.

Sick Sick Sick.

Maybe we can have a show where a beauty star with tons of plastic surgery is sent to an isolated Island to sit in a vat of spiders and watch videos of her significant other trying to cook worms for Average Joe.

It sure would save time to see everything in one show. Yuk - we're headed in the wrong direction with our interests. It's a little scarey.

I agree! But they, especially the first candidate presented, were pretty disfigured on the inside, I thought.

They mentioned they were going to offer psychoological support as well...I only half-watched the show, did they actually show what type of counseling these girls received?

And that second candidate's memory of her father telling her teacher "not to expect too much" from her? I know he meant to be protective but WTH???

I think they could've done quite a bit with just a good haircut, makeup and some trips to the gym...they should've tried TLC's What Not To Wear or something first.
