Previews for shows that deliberately give the viewer a false impresion of what is to come.

The producers have become masters at showing a snippet out of context to lead us to believe ( hope ) something is going to happen. Personally I think we have become too jaded to fall for their manipulations any more.

All the previews do it. Look at at the promos for American Dreams this week. They show Jack hugging Beth saying "It's done". We are supposed to believe this means she had the abortion. But I would bet he is talking about something completely differrent.

This is particularly rampant on the reality shows. If we are shown X in a diary session saying they are going to evict Y, we know darned well that Z is history.

Am I the only one who is sick of this?

PS...If it turns out that Jack is actually refering to an abortion I will be nice to my banker for a month:crazy:

Sopranos did this as well...the preview made it look like this season was going to be killer...literally. So far all of the clips I saw have nothing to do with how they made it look. Oh well! I guess that is how they get you to watch. ;)

Now that is my problem. These are excellent shows. I don't have to be manipulated into watching them. And their false advertising is only alienating me.

Very true, and it just irritates me when I find out what the real story is. I was all ready to see Tony try to kill Carmella but it turned out just to be a bear hanging out in the back yard.

I know exactly what you mean.

As for American Dreams, I think "it's done" is going to mean the act of getting pregnant. I think she is appologizing for the chaos the pregnancy is causing and the break up (keep in mind that this is set in a much less tollerant time) and Jack is telling her that what's done is done and let's fingure out what to do next. Of course, I could be completely wrong....but I don't see Beth wanting an abortion.

Right away "Kingdom Hospital" comes to mind. Boy, what a job they did on making that one look good in the promos.

What I hate are those movies previews that show the only really funny, suspenseful, dramatic scene in the entire movie. You go to the movies expecting more of the same, only to be disappointed :(

The WB does this constantly, esp. with Angel. They cut the preview clips and voiceovers to imply romantic intentions. (insert vomiting smiley)

Sorry, but I'm one who absolutely LOVES "Kingdom Hospital" and the previews reflect exactly what happens on the show. It's quirky and excellently done.

I understand, though, how it's not for everyone...
