Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

Great!! I am so glad about all the responses! So if everyone who is interested gets me thier reservation # and names, that will make 16 of us, so I will make the list based on who provides thier reservation #'s first. But the bigger issue is.... Hopefully they still have a private room available. Like NHdisneylover has stated, there might not even be an available room. I've tried calling Disney, but they said that they wouldn't be able to determine that information yet, they review the requests 30 days prior to sailing, so we have 9 days. I hope to request it tomorrow or Thursday the latest.... so whoever is interested, please pm me your reservation # and names asap.

Good luck Roni--I really hope you are able to get a table for the group:wizard:

Hello our family is also on this cruise.

Introducing my Family:
Ellen, DH, DD15 Leontine and DD9 Alexandra. This will be our 4th cruise and our 3th in the Med.

We have booked this cruise on the 27th on the ship last year when we did a 11-night Med on the Magic in August and were doubting what we would do in the week before, finally we decided to do our first b2b so we're very excited that we are already on the ship when you guys arrive! We originally booked a cat 9C and are happy to be upgraded to a 5B with balcony on the 7th.

Our kids love the kids club. Last time we hardly saw them. This cruise we opted for second dining, and we look forward to see with whom we are going to be seated.

I'm a Disney lover for live and the girls are also pretty addicted. We visit Disneyland Paris on a regular base as we've had a yearpass for 10 years now. Been several times to Disneyworld in Florida.

Look forward to see ya all on the Magic and have a Magical time!

Hello Ellen,
welcome, but I guess you have to welcome us while you're doing a B2B:thumbsup2.Very nice to have the Magic as a second home for 14 days, and also upgrades, what else can you wish for :).
And you're from Hilversum, we are from the Netherlands too, nice to know that there are more Dutch people on the ship. I think we'll be in a minority since I'm telling people that we will be on a disney cruise, and they have never heard about it before:sad2: But we are excited anyway, it will be our very first cruise :woohoo:.

What is everyone doing in Naples? We are planning to catch the train to Pompeii and hire a guide there. I am getting a little anxious about the walk to the train station and am considering booking the morning DCL excursion to Pompeii. Is anyone else planning to walk to the station in the morning?

Hi there
We walked to Naples station last year & took the train to Pompeii. It is about a 30 minute walk (although we go lost a couple of times!) and not a very scenic walk. When you get to the station you need to go down some stairs to get to the local line to Pompeii. We spent ages trying to get tickets from the machines in the main station before realising we were in the wrong place! Tip from someone who felt very silly for not thinking ahead-pushchairs & Pompeii dont't mix!!

can I make a suggestion, especially for those who would like to do private brunch, but unsure kids reaction!

Perhaps,we should all meet our kids on first day eg for ice cream, then socialize/take them all together at the kids club, this may help as they will not feel as shy or alone. If they get on well,we may find that they cannot wait to keep going to kids club with friends which would give us opportunity of brunch easily (eg do not tell them about brunch, but let them believe that at the kids club this is their kids special meeting)

Or perhaps we could also arrange at same time/same day a special kids only private party?????????

I have decided to put our names down anyway for brunch and spend the first 4 days hoping/praying that Tiff has friends by sea day! If problem, then at least my husband ( huge seafood fan) can attend and socialize!

what do you all think?

I would be happy to pay extra for a private kids party?:grouphug:

HI Ellen! Welcome. It is nice to see another family and especially another teenager onboard. You are lucky to get to be B2B on Disney. We are sort of kind of doing B2B--but on two different lines:rotfl: We will get off of their cruise and take a tax right over to the Liberty of the Seas to get on another Med loop cruise:lmao:

There is a kids' and teens' meet thread for this cruise as well. Your girls may want to head over there and get to know some of their fellow cruisers. I know Marika (my DD14) would love to see another girl her age posting:goodvibes

We are not going to the train station off of this cruise--but we walked there last year and it only took about 20 minutes. We walked right through the market on the way which was fun.
We did not even try to buy tickets from the machines--we just went inside to the windows. There was no line and they were very nice. I will have to look for my notes from last year to find station names. We took the train to the "back" entrance to Pompeii (a lot fewer people) and walked all through and came out the "front" where there was another train stop to take home. That worked really well. Also, there were lots of vendors selling cold water right by both entrances. The prices were good and we were SO glad we bought some because there is just one place to buy water inside and it was not easy to find and had long lines and high prices when we did find it. I would recommend grabbing everyone a full bottle of water on your way in:thumbsup2

I think Marika has already suggested a kids' meet at the ice cream area after the muster drill over on the other thread. It is nice for them to all get to know each other.
The first afternoon on board there will be "open house" hours in the club and lab. You cannot drop your child off during those times but you can go in with your child and meet the counselors, see the spaces, etc. It could be a good time to end up meeting some new friends as well. Is Tiffany very shy and in need of a lot of coordinating to make friends? Most of the kids match up pretty quickly of their own accord once they are in the clubs.

I am not sure what you mean by arranging a private party for the kids:confused3 There is not really any way to arrange for a Private staffed event for them. The only childcare DCL offers is in the organized programming. They do not provide any private babysitting at all.
Sometimes in the past the older kids have agreed to meet all together for their own "private" breakfast in Lumieres on sea day--but it was always informal. It wouldn't really be staffed and I don't think the older kids would want the responsibility of watching little ones who were too young to be on their own, or having to find the parents afterwards, even if this group decides to have a breakfast out together.
I really think odds are good that Tiffany will enjoy the club and be happy to go there while you have brunch. Most kids really like it.

I intend going to Pompeii and Herculaneum by train. I organised a private guide for our May cruise, and we shared it with another family.

The station you want to go to is the Napoli Porta Nolana station (Corsa Garibaldi), which is the terminus of the Circumvesuviano - rather than the Central Station, which is the next stop. Porto Nolana is a smaller station that only has the Circumvesuviano service, and is closer to the ship.

You can see the locations on Googlemaps here.

We took a tram to the station, and a taxi back (because it was pouring with rain). Traffic is really bad so its best not to walk IMHO.

If anyone fancies doing it as a group again, we would be happy to join up - but we are likely to have our 3 children (aged 11, 9 and 6) with us. We missed Herculaneum last time because the weather was so poor, so I am keen to do this this time.

We were going to do the same but I've ended up booking the DCL excurision for the morning. I looked at it and thought well we would probably get lost on the way to the station and Naples is not the safest place to be lost. Then we would have to pay for a guide otherwise I wouldn't have a clue what I was looking at so I chose the easier option over saving some money. Quite glad there was morning availabilty as I'm sure it will get extremely hot and busy later in the day.

Can I ask are your boys into cricket? My daughter is involved with the Yorkshire girls squad and is contemplating bringing the cricket bat but I'm not sure its going to be worth the luggage space if theres not much opportunity for a quick game on the sports court. :confused3

Would you please post details of this in this thread too, as my kids don't use the Kids threads. Thanks.

Speaking of meet ups, did we ever decide on a time and place for the adults (well EVERYONE really ) to meet up on the first day?

If we did and I missed it please just point me in that direction. if we never said for sure, here is my suggestion:

I think 2:00 or 2:30 is a good time because it is late enough for people to board, get Palo or Spa reservations worked out, grab a bite to eat and get into their staterooms to drop luggage but a bit before the safety/muster drill and before the fun things (like sail-away party) start.

For a place, I really like the Promenade lounge. It is usually easy to find the group there and that works no matter what the weather. It is SOOOO nice to get together for just 20 or 30 minutes right off and then get to put face with names and start to REALLY make friends.

So, is there something already planned that I missed? If not does the above work for people?

I'll ask Marika to make sure it gets posted both places and to ask Roni to add it to the website. I am not 100% sure of they have decided FOR SURE of when and where or are still deciding over there:rotfl2:

spoke to Tiff, agrees kids club on sea day!
So we can go private brunch!

I told her many kids are going kids club(from disboard site) to play for few hours as on sea day all the group will be aboard ship and it is one of the last days to play with friends from disboards/ship and mummies and dadies going to meet up at same time while kids play!
She was very calm, and I told her, rest of day with us!
I simply asked her if wanted to join other kids sea day at club and she said YES.

Works for me! See you there!! :woohoo:

If anyone is interested we still have room on two of our private tours. The cost per person depends on how many people sign up. If you want more info send me a private message with your e-mail address. Disboards doesn’t like how long the message is with all the tour details.

Florence, Pisa and lunch at a winery - We have room for 1 person

From Naples (Dock) to Naples, Pompei and Amalfi Coast
We have room for 2 more people.

I know yonks ago someone kindly put on this thread about the towns that are right by the ports - can anyway point me in the right direction of where this is please so I can write it down in my book - thanks

can anyone help me please, my fault i should have copied and pasted when i read it - it was details from someone who had gone last year (cant remember that either, as you can tell me memory is good :sad2:) - it was saying about which ports have nice towns right beside it if only want to go ashore for a few hours. I promise to copy and paste it this time :flower3:

I too would like to know this. I cancelled our Palo dinner on sea day as the Captains Gala menu looked too good! So now no dinners left to book either :(

Hi,

I went into my reservation today and it shows as palo dinners still being available? I am booked already so did not go any further in case I got booted out, but maybe have another look? :goodvibes
