Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

Even though you pay before the "due" date, you can't reserve any earlier for things like Palo, excursions, etc. Those are still tied to your "status" (gold member, platinum, silver etc.) It's just a peace of mind that it is finally all paid for!!:thumbsup2

Lets hope Spain does not go ahead with planned summer strikes! This would effect all of us! Those who have not yet seen todays new announcement of Spanish airports planned strikes from Easter through to end August!
I and other refugees from 3rd cruise certainly dont need any more disruption or bad news!:grouphug:fingers crossed!

Before you ask how I know,on Greek/UK and European news tonight!

Dates in our period month planned so far for Spanish airport planned enitial strikes 1st/15th/31st AUG staff walk-outs!

Government stating that it will not come to that, but has happened before! I am
hoping also that Greek/French airports do not jump on bandwagon! We had such strikes here in Greece last summer and it caused chaos to holidaymakers!

We fly 26th Aug evening from Greece,so have allowed for delays but not strikes or cancellations!

Lets hope it is just scaretactics and will be resolved ASAP!

Are the strikes only on the days of Aug 1, 15th, 31st? Our flights are August 26th. Would we just miss it?

Just a threat at the moment - and hopefully will be resolved by negotiation / arbitration - but the possibility of Spanish airport strikes (see Travellers heading to Spain for Easter face chaos after the country's main trade unions announced 22 days of planned strikes. They including four during Easter week and other walkouts have been called for the May bank holiday, and at the height of summer. )

The dates specified are 20, 21, 24, 25 and 30 April; 2, 14, 15, 19 and 20 May; 13, 23 and 30 June; 1, 2, 3, 4, 15 and 31 July; and 1, 15 and 31 August.

I booked this cruise last February, and was the original thread started but we have to cancel because my husband is about to start a new job in April and can't very well ask for 10 days off 4 months later. So, the bad news is we're cancelling :( but I wanted to wish you all a great voyage! Take lots of pictures and be sure to post! The good news is we're getting re-located back down to the south (we're all the way up in FREEZING Maine right now). And, we're actually not going to cancel, but change sail dates to next year but it will be a 4 day on the dream. Anyway just wanted to send best wishes to everyone on this cruise :)

Jen

I'm sorry to say I too am having to change my sail date. We found out a few days ago since my DF is not going to re-enlist the Navy can move him sooner than his rotation date in October. The move can happen as soon as April and we may not know anything until July. We have spent the past few days going over every possibility but the only one that makes any sense is to cancel now. We are waiting a few weeks to re-book but I think we are going to do a 7 night Caribbean on the Magic early next year. We are also putting off our wedding. There is no point in planning something like that when we don't know where we will be living. Right now I am one more issue from a Vegas wedding!
I was really looking forward to meeting you all and I hope you all have a "Magical" time!

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Can I ask have you paid it early? Starting to worry now as I thought we had to pay by end April? If you have paid it early is there any "plus points" to doing this or just so you can :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Just paid it off for peice of mind... so I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Bummer! Hope everything works out, good luck with the wedding!

I couldn't have said it better myself! LOL ;)

Here's a link to a good article on it from a UK newspaper.

Air travel is so much work these days, hopefully things will work out and we do not need to worry about strikes.

I have DCL insurance which doesn't cover airfare. I just purchased additional insurance which only covers my airfare thru AMEX. The cost for both was very reasonable in comparison to what InsureMyTrip.com has to offer. So now I can have some peace!!

I am very sad to hear that disneychic and sissy_ib will not be joining us. :sad1: I completely understand about husband's jobs though as they have caused us to cancel many a vacation over the years. I'd like to say it gets better but I'm still waiting for that day!:sad2: I took sissy_ib off the FE list.

On a happier note, at least for me :goodvibes, I will be away from my computer for a week. My mom and I are taking the two DD's to Vero for their Spring Break. :yay::woohoo::yay: I will be reading all of the pages I miss and updating the FE list when I get back.

Have a great week! (I know I will :lmao:)

For anyone who has DCL insurance, the insurance does not take effect until 75 days out from your cruise date. So, no need to rush to make final payment, or to pay for DCL trip insurance right now due to the chance of aiport strikes in Spain.

Well I feel as covered as I can be, so now back to trip planning!!!

Has anyone looked in going to Eze on your own? I think my boys would be bored silly by Monte Carlo and Monaco but wandering through a little French villiage would take their fancy. There seen to be lots of threads about going to Monte Carlo and Monaco on your own but I can't find anything in Eze. Any suggestions?

I actually found all of the excursions thru Disney boring for Villefranche. We are going to hang out at the port in Villefranche, maybe sit at the beach if its not too croweded, find a church there for morning mass, and have something to eat at the port restaraunts. Also just walk around that little port town.

We were on the first cruise last year at the end of April. It was rather eventful with the ash cloud/volcano flight disruption, the team from the Dis Unplugged on board and one of the worst storms I've ever seen on our last sea day.
Sounds like you got to come home with some GREAT stories:goodvibes

Oh, I am sorry to hear you have to cancel:guilty:. Congratulation to your husband on the new job though:)
Hi,

Was told to come and have a look over here from the DIBB forum.
My wife (Hazel), daughter (Jerrica) and myself (obviously the Andy of the well thought out username!!!) are counting the days away to our holiday. Never done a cruise before never mind a Disney one but looking forward to it.

Having to look into things like Fish Extenders and stuff like that :surfweb:.

Anyhow ...must sleep but just to say HI
Welcome:goodvibes

We were looking forward to meeting you too. I am sorry you had to cancel. I hoe things settle down for you and you can plan a proper wedding soon:lovestruc.

Here is a thread from Cruise Critic which gives detailed information about taking the bus to Eze. You can always post over there and see if someone has done it more recently too:thumbsup2

I should be offline for the nest few days as well. Marika and I are heading down to the Girl Scouts USA Overseas North Atlantic Leadership Conference. We are really looking forward to our girls only long weekend. Hopefully the German rail strikes will not affect us:eek:

Just made final payment today!!!!:worship: Now if the rest of the world would just settle down, I can start to get excited about my trip!!!

Ok Roniboboni, we are on!!

We have paid too - hooray! On the topic of money, I FINALLY received my cheque from the Sept 3 cruise change fees that I had to pay at the beginning of Feb(5k). I am pleased about this but the cheque is in US$ which are worth less than the aussie dollar right now (my flight change costs were clearly stated in AUD) and the bank will take 6 weeks to clear the amount since it is a foreign business cheque - not a bank cheque or a money order. Come on Disney - how about an electronic transfer in the first place.

My travel agent is speaking to Disney so hopefully they will to something about the issue. Fingers crossed!

By the way thanks Hadley for the Eze information. It was a huge help.

Cheers
Anna

We had the same, cheque in dollars :sad2: even though paid in pounds. we had to pay a ten pound fee to change it, and then we are short

:cool1::worship::banana: Glad you made your final payment!! Are you taking Disney's transfers from AC Diplomatic? We are. Since we are also at the AC, maybe we can meet up at the hotel prior to the cruise. Will you be there the Friday before the cruise?
