Just popping in to say hi to everyone. The thread has slowed down a bit--we must all be busy

We are most likely booking an Eastern Med cruise for the kids' Easter break from school tomorrow. Sooooo, I will be a little preoccupied with trying to figure out those totally new to us ports and may not be around here as much for a bit. No worries though--I will keep reading everything and posting once in a while and I WILL be on this cruise (with lanyards). I wouldn't start collecting lanyard info until after finally payment it due anyway--too many people sign up and the drop out (I have learned this lesson the hard way).

I hope you are all having fun.

BWV Dreamin'--my in laws may be interested in going to mass too. Maybe you will see some familiar faces there.

We are sailing to Athens and Rhodes on our cruise in April. I have seen some scary reports on the news about current affairs in Greece. I hope that you and your family are all safe Can you tell me if it is really as bad as the news makes it sound, or are there just a few isolated riots?

So I was curious how many FE we had and checked the website and only saw 9 people listed as participating. I know we have 180 days until we sail, but that number seems low =(

If that is the case I won't have to make any more Fish Extender items, because I made more than enough before our panama canal cruise in hopes of having enough for both cruises. I still have about 35 left over. I hope more people sign up, because it is a lot of fun.

I keep waiting for more people to sign up for the FE as well! We really had a lot of fun with them on the TA last year and the DD's are looking forward to their first FE exchange.

I think we will get more people later on. But if you look at the list on page 8 there are 13 cabins listed, each with several people so it adds up to a lot more than 9 people. At the moment I keep thinking I must make something for the FE but then everytime I go shopping I keep picking stuff up so it will prob end up all shop bought.

For anyone planning to visit Rome, its worth checking out the Scavi Tour which is a small pre-booked tour of the Necropolis under St Peter's, which culminates in what is believed to be the tomb of St Peter. I did it the last time I was in Rome. They only allow a few people a day down there as its all temperature/humidity controlled etc., but a once in a lifetime event if you can make it.

What a great trip with your extended family. We've done a couple of those and they are so much fun for everyone.

They haven't announced what nights are the semi-formal or pirate but I would suspect the formal will be on the 1st as that's our only day at sea.

On our Panama Canal Cruise we had 97 rooms participating in Fish Extender it was so fun.

The only thing that may concern you if is a transportation strike happens when you are travelling! Do expect costs to be as high as usual as this economical crisis has no bearing on costs here in Greece(hence the problem) Eat and drink at local taverns/bars,Beware,tourist trap locations,Acropolis/airport etc expensive in comparison!Summer temp 37-40!hot!Have a great time!Ps Greece is most famous for it's islands!

no riots,may see some demonstrations!Ps 17 onwards April is 2 week Easter celebration here,sp rob quiet anyway as Greeks take their religion serriously!April/May weather conditions may be cold/Warm.

diane aggelidou: FE and Fish extender are the same thing. Outside of all the stateroom doors are metal fish clips that the crew can leave message for you on. We hang pockets on them. When you sign up for it you put a gift in everyone's that has signed up (kind of like a secret santa) some people put one gift per cabin, others one gift per person, it is really up to you. When you get back to your cabin there are little gifts in your fish extender. Here is a thread all about them with pictures. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

Lanyards hang around your neck with a clear pouch to hold your key to the world card. We usually have name tags with our dis names on them as well so it makes it easier to identify others on the cruise.

Hopefully after your look at the other thread about Fish Extenders it will be clearer!
