Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

Hi guys we have also just booked for the 7 day cruise. Myself, wife and 19yr old son will be spending a few days in Barcelona before our very first cruise. These pages are proving invaluable to get some inside tips on the things that we will need to do to make the most of our trip. Keep them coming.:thumbsup2

That's great! My first cruise was with Disney. Maybe all of us Dis'ers can meet up in Barca. I'd love to see a match at Camp Nou.

Yeah! We just booked our trip! So, it will be me and DH only! That means no one vomitting on me this cruise. :cheer2: Kids are staying with gma and gpa. So, starting to look at flights and excursions. Anyone recommend the "can't live without seeing" things for this cruise? Anyone interested in doing private excursions? Also, how much has everyone from the US been paying for flights? Sorry, so many questions. We are just so excited!! One last one, though. It says we can depart from the ship at 7a. If we do the DCL bus do you think we can make a 10:45a flight? It's the last one, so if not we'll have to spend the night. Since we flew into Barcelona but didn't fly out last year not sure how long it will take.

Thanks guys!
Lisa

Hi, I bougth multiple flights with Iberia out of Boston-Madrid, Granada-Barcelona, Barcelona-Boston: $1237.80 per person. I'm leaving two weeks earlier. Also, according to the Disney Cruiseline rep, they told me to take a later flight out of Barcelona the same day I arrive. I don't think 10:45 a.m. flight won't cut it. You'll have customs, Barcelona traffic, etc. I'm leaving the following morning.

Just booked my airfare today.... Think I got a pretty good price. I've been watching the fares, today they seemed to have dropped. So I booked. From BWI to BCN (stopping over in Philedelphia) costs $1095/pp, with all taxes and fees included. $1008 before taxes and fees. The cheaper flights had 2 stops, where this is only one, then direct into BCN. Getting a redeye Thursday night, arriving into BCN on Friday morning. Sure hoping we can check in early at the hotel....:crazy2:

I'm gonna end up paying just a bit more out of Houston. We are flying in to Paris and out of Barcelona though. I have my flights from Paris to Barcelona already and hotels reserved in both cities. So DLP and the flights there and back are the only thing I have left. DLP is offering 30% off if you book by February 15th, so I need to get that done soon and flights will be once I get home from this deployment and I get my back pay, so about another 30 days. I have been buying Disney gift cards to use on the ship toward our onboard account. DF has no idea how much plaining I have been doing and I am keeping it that way:rolleyes1

Make sure you on the US Disneyland Paris website, as it was less for me then the UK site. I was always routed to the UK site, but I googled US Disneyland Paris and got the US site (probably a Canadian issue)

We booked our airfare with US Airways. For the four of us, it was just over $4,300. We fly from El Paso to Phoenix, Phoenix to Philly and then Philly to Barcelona. We are also taking a red eye flight to Barcelona. The airfare freaked me out at first, but now, i'm not even looking at flights and it's all good... I don't even want to know if I over paid.

Wow that is quite the flight, but I am sure you are glad it is booked. I am looking for flights Toronto to Vancouver and it coming up to almost the price you paid for a 4 hour flight, airfares are crazy right now and with oil so high they keep going up.

Wow! That's a great deal! We have been looking at flights and they are $2,700 for just the two of us! So, that sounds good!

Are we doing anything as a group onboard? Candy exchange? Fish extenders?

I'm willing to be in charge of the FE exchange if someone who is posted on page 1 can edit a note to my first post on page 8. :thumbsup2 I have two teenage daughters who have never done the FE before and are already planning what they are going to make for it. ;) (and they really should be studying for exams!!!)

Let me know if anyone else would like to participate! (If anyone else would like to run it I would not be offended at all! :flower3:)

Thanks for volunteering! I would like to join :dance3: I think it will just be our 2 kiddos to participate, not me and my DH or is it ok that the whole family does it? This is my first cruise, so I feel bad I can't help, I wouldn't know what to do. :confused3

Okay, FE list is started.:thumbsup2 Unfortunately my first post is page 8 but it's there. Anyone else for FE? It doesn't look like we'll be a large group on this cruise.;)

RoniBoBoni: you can have your two kids or the whole family, it's up to you. Some people give something for the cabin while others will give something for each person. Whatever you feel comfortable with. Ages and sex of the kiddos does help as a three year old boy would probably not want the same things as my 16 year old dd.:rotfl: (actually, that may not be true as she loves working with young children and is still a kid at heart!)

I just checked out the Disney hosted shore excursion Rome by Segway, and OMG $329 per person?!?! I waslooking into those tours and they are less than 100 euro per person. I am in sticker shock.

Hi
Im joining you and can't wait, also my DW and DD6 and DS9.
Just trying to sort flights (expensive!) from UK and also Barcelona hotel the night before cruise.
Also found some fantastic video logs from a UK family that did the 11 day Med last year that had some fantastic tips for trips at some of the ports we'll be calling at.

Can't post links yet, but search Youtube for 'PGC DISNEY MED CRUISE' by elnicholson1

Can't wait to meet you all in August

Hi Andy! Thanks for the Youtube tip - those videos are amazing! Lots of neat visual info there. Glad you and your family will be on this cruise. Is this your first cruise? First Disney Cruise?

Hi RoniBoBoni
Thanks for your kind words. Did the Med last year with UK company Thomson cruises, which we all enjoyed but decided we simply had to do Disney Cruise this year for the extra magic!
Kids are gonna love it and I doubt we'll see much of them once on board. lol

Hi All

During my search for flights UK to BCN, I've found a reasonable flight that departs Barcelona at 11.40am on the Saturday.
Do you think there's enough time to make this flight given the Ashore time is 7am, as not sure on the procedure DCL has for disembarking at the end of the cruise.

We had no problems getting to the airport for a 10:50 flight. DCL had an early breakfast at Topsiders and then whisked us off the ship. We used a private shuttle, so no waiting for taxis. I think there might have been an early DCL bus; but I wouldn't testify to that in court.

Thanks Lynne, thats all I needed to know.
Just bought the flights at a bargain price, I'll be in Barcelona at 9.25am on Friday before the cruise.
Just need to book the hotel now and Im all organised! Yipee
