Damage report: Nothing big so far--but the smoke house located on the MK side of WL--one of their screens mesh has come loose but at this point is easily fixed, one tree has a snapped branch still attached to the tree, just peeked out the window and found a snapped tree.
Wind Report--the trees are bending a lot and a lightpost with security camera is visibly shaking.
Water Report--Rain through the downspout is flowing at a steady stream--and the waterway by Contemporary that connects Bay Lake to the other Lake--I could swear that the water level looks much higher than normal--and looks like it could carry someone on boogy board--or better yet, looks almost suitable for river rafting.
A Danish for breakfast? The nerve of Disney...hah, just kidding.
I am surprised--our restaurant was open for breakfast as was our quick service restaurant. They had more than just Danish. Perhaps they are comping some of the snacks or something over there and she wasn't pleased with the freebie choice? That is the onlly thing I can think of.
I am surprised they are playing in the lobby over there. I guess it is up to individual mgmt staff at each resort--I know that those resorts that have exterior corridors have had the guests confined to their rooms for some time. At GF a mgr was telling guests on Friday that they wouldn't be opening their restaurants all weekend but I don't know if they followed thru with that or if they were able to open some. He said they would be selling boxed meals. Perhaps that is what happened at AKL--can you tell us what your family said Sazzosmommy?
WL has glass at the ends of the hallways of the room floors and for one side of the hallway that runs along Artist Point and for an entire wall in the lobby. I think the reason we are in our rooms is that they are afraid of the windows blowing out. They have a LOT of leaks by pretty much every single door and window of the pool facing side of the lobby. Lots of towels out and plastic sheets to protect the floor. If water can get through--then that means there is some breach in the window that makes it more of a risk with the windy conditions. Some of the leaks are actually small flows of water (skinny skinny--but constant) and not just drips.
Mgmt can do whatever they want in the interests of guest safety. It stinks--I agree. I am not on vacation--I had to evacuate, so I am appreciative of the $109 per night rate that I have as a Fla resident and will follow what they say whether I like it or not. For those guests who were "trapped" here and unable to leave--they have my sympathies...for those who chose to come this weekend with knowledge that the hurricane will hit this state and knowing of Disney's waived cancellation/late arrival penalties--they do not have my sympathy. Disney has these "secret" manuals--where basically there is a point from being Disney to having to enforce safety. I forget what these manuals are called--but a CM will have to help me here. In any case--they still have the Disney-esque language in their communications. "For your comfort, we have prepared box lunches. Please proceed to the nearest elevator. A CM there will..blah blah blah." It still all has the Disney touch

.
They are selling the box lunches for $5. I do not know what is in them as we won't be purchasing. We were able to get lunch just before Roaring Forks closed and have lunchmeat and bread to make our own sandwiches later.
