Is there anyone at the WDW resorts right now? How's the weather and how are you doing? How is Disney handling this storm - hope to hear from someone and hope to hear you are safe and sound.

I'm here in the Contemporary...originally at Pop but we weasled in to stay with someone here so we could leave our room. Things are fine. Its just really starting to rain, a small rain storm earlier in the day but otherwise they couldve had the parks open. I saw on the news that it'll start getting rough Sunday morning. I'll try to keep you posted.

How stir crazy is everyone getting? The storm is moving so slowly and the parks will be closed tomorrow (SUnday) and possibly Monday as well? I'd think at a time like this it would be better to be somewhere like Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge... anyplace with a central lobby so at least you could GO somewhere. Good luck riding out the storm!

we left the yacht club this morning - we flew back to new york from tampa. When we left it was fine and it was still fine in tampa at 11:30.

I've been watching the weather all day wondering how things are going down there. Please stay safe and maintain your sanity with the cabin fever! The Contemporary is one of the better ones I would rather be stranded in (lobby, restaurants, etc.). Please remember that many of us have you all in our thoughts and prayers....

Please keep us updated on your situation....

We will be staying at Pop in 2 weeks and with the talk of more storms brewing in the ocean, I was thinking the same thing. It would be horrible to be stuck in your room, but not 'as bad' if you were at a place where you could shop and eat and walk around. We are praying for you all- stay safe and keep us posted :wave2:

are all at the AKL right now! I just got off the phone with them two hours ago and they said so far so good!

In fact, my DM was really impressed with the way the CM's are so upbeat and they have had loads of things for them to do in the lobby all day long! Dancing, a live band, free coffee, and a great buffet at JIKO were all things they experienced today.

As I was talking to her she was on the balcony overlooking the Arusha Savannah and worried about four wildebeast who were still out, but right as we were talking they were called in to be put away for the duration of the storm. She was very relieved!

She said tomorrow morning will be the big brunt of the storm, so they were going to sleep and said they would call first thing in the morning if they could get through!

I'll post back when I hear from them!

We are at Wilderness Lodge--I've been up since about 3 am or so.

10 minutes to 6, I went to go walk around and was sent back to my room :( They said until 6 or 6:30 which I believe translates to basically "sunrise"--in case of a power outage or something is my educated guess.

They have some buckets out in the lobby and a carpet is rolled up--might just be from some incidental leaks in the roof that are probably not related to roof damage since the roof is strips of tin (I think that is the metal) instead of shingles.

It is very windy outside--watching the weather on the television. So far, the parking lots still look clean and I cannot see that trees have fallen or anything. Those pines look very very flexible.

Power is out at my home in Indialantic (Melbourne, Area, Brevard Co.)--I had been calling my machine periodically to use that as my power indicator and as of 3:30 this morning, it is no longer functioning.

Sounds like we will be in the hotels until late this afternoon, if we are lucky.

We are working on our game plan for departure--will try to visit a grocery store before leaving as I am unsure of when I will be able to return home.

We had booked all stars earlier in the week and thankfully hubby upgraded that to the WL b/c being able to leave the room has been a blessing.

The weather here will be nasty all day and the parks of course our closed today.

Hi! My Hubby and I are staying at the Coronado Springs resort so we are confined to our rooms right now. Thank goodness they have internet access or I'd be going crazy!

The winds have been picking up this morning and we had a voicemail that the resturant and shop were going to be closed until further notice. We've got plenty of food and drinks. So we're just trying to relax. There are a lot of locals that have checked into this hotel over the past couple of days, and from what we've heard Disney is giving them a pretty good rate which is nice of them.

We just hope everyone ends up being okay!

-Oh yeah and I'm new to the boards...I read a lot before our trip but never posted...decided I might as well join now!

Scary stuff! You guys stay safe!

I'm thinking the resorst I'd rather be "stuck" at would be the Dolphin (big festive lobby with lots of shops and restaurant choices) Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Saying prayers that it's all over soon!

Stay safe everyone. Me and my family were very fortunate, our trip departure to WDW was exactly a week after Charley and our departure from WDW was 3 days before Frances. I am glad we were unaffected by this because we had small children with us, I pray for everyone there with children, who must be terrified. Stay safe and you are in our prayers!

Hi all--your 10am resort update from the WL.

Birds are trying to fly and ducks are trying to swim.
The birds are not able to form their formation and are being tossed topsy turvey in the wind.

Ducks are actually swimming in the WL pool.

It is really windy and rainy....lots of lobby windows are leaking as are doors/windows/ceiling in the hallway in front of Artist Point and Roaring Forks. The trees are maintaining their flexibility and I have not seen any downed trees yet. But there is lots of pineneedle debris on the pool deck and the kiddie wading pull is full of needles and leaves. The main pool surprisingly looks its usual clean self--but a bit choppy. Bay lake is starting to look like a wave pool--not so much for surfing--but if it weren't for the hurricane, it would be doable to go boogy boarding.

Restaurants are on limited menu. Roaring Forks has their regular fare. I forgot to mention that they stocked more snacks and food in the mercantile--all the bread is gone but lots of PB&J and potato chip type products as well as styrofoam coolers.

The Disney resort is on the north side of the projected track. Being that the roughest parts are on the north and east side of the eyewall that is diminishing--the party should really get started around 2pm or so--I use the term party lightly--meaning the rough stuff should be coming soon. I did go stand outside for a bit in the breezeway (should be a windway) between the Lodge and the villas to just get a touch of what is going on--and it is a very very very very blustery day in Pooh terms and more bluster should be coming.

The kids activities are going to get started in the lobby. I don't know what they have planned--but my daughter has lost interest. She is fascinated with the Disney channel at the moment and stair climbing.

Pray for my house too while you are at it!!! It is in Brevard County which is faring okay--but taking the brunt of the north eyewall--125 mph gusts reported at Port Canaveral (I am 35 minutes south of that)

Stay safe down there!

Keep us updated if you can and it is safe to do so!!!

We are all praying for everyone if Florida right now!

Thank you everyone for the periodic updates. We are glued to The Weather Channel and Fox News Channel trying to see what is going on. It is so much better to get first hand reports from you guys. Stay safe, we will continue to have you in our thoughts.

Yes, thanks for much for your updates; please keep us informed and please stay safe and sound.

It is 12:15pm as of this post--about 15 minutes ago I left Roaring Forks and they had shut the doors (I was actually confused when they did this b/c I couldn't find the exit :hyper: ). They were evacuating the lobby and closing the restaurants and asking people to return to their rooms. Hubby tried to go in the hallway and the Lodge "police" are making us stay put.

We have stuff in our cooler to eat--but we were trying to buy food economically to preserve our cooler food in the event of a lockdown and hear we are. Some people had just come down for lunch and were being turned away.

The eye of the hurricane is due south of Orlando so we are about to get the brunt of the stronger winds.

We still have power so that is good. I really do not suspect that we will lose power. Though the utilities are underground--the main wires that lead to the resort are above ground--so there is still a chance that power can be lost.

A WDW guest is talking to the weather guy on tv right now asking if it would be possible to go home tomorrow--he said flying no, but regarding driving--suggested to not leave the resort until 3pm when she headed to Atlanta. I am glad she called while I am typing as that is interesting information. He did say even at 3 or 4pm it will still be rainy, breezy/windy. She has children--and he said that for the kids--pay the visa bill later and stay at Disney another day ::yes::

We are contemplating what we will do as our credit card is getting steep  We wanted to try to transfer to a shelter near home tomorrow and we will stay at a friends house beginning on Tuesday as he is not planning to return until then.

My family and I are here at the Beach Club, where we have been since Friday. We will be in our rooms for a bit today (actually most of the day), but given the circumstances, we think that we could be much worse off elsewhere. So far, we would have to give Disney high marks for the way they have managed things. Lots of communication, no shortage on food or beverage, and keeping safety as the first priority.

You can just barely hear the storm from the rooms, and since we are all from Colorado, it reminds us of some of the blizzards we have been through. We can see a few new broken trees from our window, and there will probably be a few more later since we are just getting the worst part of the storm, but there has only been about 3" of rain so far according to NOAA. It is much worse south and east of here where the eyewall came ashore.

One of the biggest problems is simply waiting for this d*mn thing to pass. As you can imagine, there are a lot of antsy children who would love to be able to expend some energy. Hopefully everything will normalize a bit over the next 36 hours.

Now we're watching Ivan and wondering where our cruise that was supposed to go to the bahamas, departing the 9th, will even sail, and if so, where.

Good luck to everyone!

Thank you all for your updates. Sorry about your vacation time...but if you are all safe that is what is important.

Pat

Thanks for everyones posts. We're think of you all from whereever we are.

eeoryes4me, it's a beautiful day in this neighborhood. I hope your cruise goes off ok...

We have a trip in Oct with friends and are staying at POP. If wasn't for them being there, I sure would feel safer, more comfortable in a resort with inside entry, lobby, restaurants, all accessable without going outside.

I'm surprised to read from one poster about the resort employees enforcing guests staying in rooms. Hallways as long as no glass are the safest place to be.

Anything, thinking of you all and appreciate your updates..Sharon
