I apologize for the long post and I thank you so much in advance to anyone who responds this has just really been on my mind for weeks now! So this is our First Family trip to Disney (my first trip ever) (husband has been a a kid, our daughter went when she was about 5 with grandparents (but doesn't remember doing much and didn't do anything too "special" no character meals no dressing up nothing like that)

We are staying for 7 days 6 nights at the Coronado and husband wanted to do the DDP (to make it more of an "all inclusive" trip. When we have done bigger vacations in the past the all inclusive resorts are where my husband tends to have the most fun and be the less stressed because no matter that we always budget enough money(to do what we want and enjoy everything) he is still one to stress over every penny after about 2 days. Since he has insisted on the Deluxe plan he always wants to do alot of Sit down meals. Daughter is now 8 years old will be almost 9 when we go btw.

I tried to plan our meal times roughly around the times we usually eat. We also plan to use our I am almost certain this is going to be alot of food but husband is a big guy and a big eater (6ft 8in 270) (he tends to help us finish our plate when we can't). We also plan to use our snacks credits for mostly drinks and smaller snacks or even stuff to take back to the room to snack on later in the evening) I found it very stressful to plan these so far in ahead and Now I am really worried about having too many Reservations and feeling like we are just rushing from 1 place to eat to the next.

I now also realize that these early ADR's we have made for breakfast will require us to drive bc transportation only starts 1 hour before parks open.

Would someone care to comment and make suggestions on our Dining Plan and ADR's so far?

(we will arrive early this day from staying 2 nights at the beach, we plan to eat breakfast before we leave that morning)

Saturday June 9 : Hollywood Studios (9am-9pm)
Lunch: Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (12:15)
Dinner: Mama Melrose's Ristorante w fantasmic (5:15)
Fantasmic: (9:00)

I have a question about this day... do you think it would be worth going into the park after breakfast or should we just relax at the hotel until we go to magic kingdom around 1- 1:30 Because we have all decided we dont want to super all hot sweaty sticky and nasty when daughter does Boutique nor when we do the Royal Castle Dinner and we plan to spend a big part of the night there until we get tired

We plan to leave Disney :( early evening/ late afternoon really whenever we feel like it ... we do have a long drive back home (10 hours or so) but we have decided if we get to to tired to make the whole trip no biggie we will spend the night somwhere)

It doesn't look like you are using all of your dining credits. Three sit down meals is a lot, so I plan to do several signature restaurants that require 2 credits. You can get great snacks on the dining plan. I wouldnt waste them on cheap stuff and drinks. I get several items to take home, and also get bakery items at night to eat for a quick breakfast the next day. If you're on the deluxe plan, you get the refillable drink mug. I also bring crystal light packets to flavor water

Im curious... why do you think we aren't going to using our dining credits? We figured we have 2 that we wont be using because of eating breakfast the day of and leaving before dinner ... but we have 2 signature meals that require 2 each (cinderellas royal table So that uses 1 for that day and 1 of the extras)
(Yachtsman 1 for that day and 1 extra) all the other days we will be doing 3 meals each Breakfast Lunch and dinner at 1 credit service each and the 2 snacks. That should add up to be 3 each day plus the 2 extra we wont use to go toward the meals that require 2. Are we figuring it wrong?

We also plan to do water and bring flavor packets. And i do intend to get stuff i can save for later or take home. The refillable drink mugs are only good at our resort though right?

It sounds like you think you have 3 credits each person each day of your trip.
That is incorrect
You have 3 credits each person for each night of your trip. Since you are there 6 nights that is 18 credits each.

I don't think she calculated 3 per day. If you check her numbers, it does look like she's using 18 credits. I could be wrong as I did the math quick. I find it funny that the first person who responded said she wasn't using enough and now you are saying she's using too many. And I think she's got it just right. Edit to add: Well, you might be right. I only counted those places that were actually named and didn't count the "quick lunch". So you're right, OP might be miscounting.

As for the original question, I think only you can really determine if you're going to spend too much time eating. It looks like you're not doing park hopper, so I think that will save you some time since you plan on staying in the same park all day. You won't have to worry about going from one park to another.

I also don't see what time of year you are going, so that could impact how you feel too. You might want to take lots of breaks throughout the day if it's hot out.

My thoughts in are red for what they're worth: :)

These meals would be too close for us. Could you get an earlier Sci-fi ADR? I don't remember what time they open, but I would book the earliest ADR possible. The MM ADR is on the later side for F! packages as it is. You probably can't change that. We like Sci-Fi's burgers at lunch. We haven't eat at MM.

2:00pm Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
Dinner: 4:20pm Cinderella's Royal Table

This is good spacing. I'd try to get by with a snack, so you'll be hungry for dinner. We usually eat 2 TS meals per day w/o a snack, but that may not work for your DH. When we're running around the parks, we tend to eat less than at home. This is especially true, when it's hot.

Monday June 11: Epcot (9am-9pm) hollywood extra nite time 9 to 12

This would definitely be too much food for us. If you're okay with grazing & not really getting your money's work, it may work. Make sure you have the meals you're most looking forward to first. By the time the 3rd meal comes around, you may be sick of food. You don't want to be too full to enjoy something you're really looking forward to.

Tuesday June 12th: Animal Kingdom
Breakfast: Tusker House Restaurant (8:20)
Lunch: quick lunch
Dinner: 7:45 Dinner Maya Grill (hotel)

This day looks good. We haven't eaten at MG, but TH breakfast is our favorite character meal.

Wednesday June 13th: (no park planned yet )
Breakfast: quick (prob early at Pepper Market Buffet)
Lunch: quick
5pm Downtown Disney 5:30-7:30 La Nouba
Dinner: Planet Hollywood (8:30) (we couldnt decide where to eat downtown or what time (you think this time is ok daughter thought the look was neat)

Your timing is good. La Nouba & PH aren't that far apart. PH would be my last choice in DTD, but what I think doesn't count. ;) If this is the place your DD chose, I'd keep it.

Thursday June 14th: Magic Kingdom (early morning 8am-9am
Breakfast: hotel breakfast (6:30ish)
Lunch: The Plaza Restaurant (12:15)
Dinner: Yachtsman (7:30)

This will work. Plaza's meals aren't too heavy. If you can resist eating all of your appetizer, entree & the tasty desserts, you should be sufficiently hungry for dinner. The volume of food you get with DxDDP is a lot, even if you order a sandwich.

Friday June 15th: (open day no park planned but Epcot has early morn hours ... but we plan to sleep in a little this day)
breakfast: animal kingdom lodge BOMA (10:15)
lunch: at the park of the day

Boma is a pain to get to, but it may be worth it to you. I personally don't think it is, but many do. We went to Boma breakfast once, & didn't think the food was worth the commute. The fact that you'll have a car makes it a lot easier. We always park our car & use WDW transportation. Boma will be a better fit, if you decide to go to AK on your last day. Keep in mind the food is similar to Tusker House.

If you think you'll be going to Epcot, you may want to consider Cape May Cafe for breakfast. That said, if you plan on sleeping in, you would be better off planning for a different park. We're not morning people, so we never go to the park that has morning EMH. It's only worth it, if you plan on taking advantage of the EMH hours. If not, you're going to an already crowded park.

You could also go to CMC, if you decide to go to DHS that day. If going to MK, I'd choose differently.

We plan to leave Disney :( early evening/ late afternoon really whenever we feel like it ... we do have a long drive back home (10 hours or so) but we have decided if we get to to tired to make the whole trip no biggie we will spend the night somewhere)

I counted 18 credits + 1 meal that would have to be paid OOP. That counts all the "unnamed" lunches & breakfasts as 1 credit on DxDDP.

It looked from your description of something light or something quick that you were going to do counter service meals for those meals. Unless I assumed wrong. While you can certainly do that, you wouldnt be getting the full value of your deluxe plan. Unless I counted wrong and thought some of the 2 credit places were 1 credit. In which case...umm nevermind ;-)

We are staying for 7 days 6 nights at the Coronado

Based on this, you get 3 meal credits which can be used at Table Service or Quick Service; and 2 snack credits per night per person, so that is 18 meal credits per person for 6 nights (and 12 snack credits).

Now, I separated all the meals to try to clarify credits:

Lunch: Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater (12:15) 1 TS Credit
Dinner: Mama Melrose's Ristorante w fantasmic (5:15) 1 TS Credit
Total 2 2

Breakfast: 8:15am Chef Mickey's 1 TS Credit
Lunch: Big Snack Or smaller Quick Service Meal 1 credit for QS
Dinner: 4:20pm Cinderella's Royal Table 2 TS Credit
Total: 4 6

Breakfast: 8:05am Askuresus Banquet Hall 1 TS Credit
Lunch: Le Cellier Steakhouse (1:20) 1 TS Credit
Dinner: Via Napoli (7:45) 1 TS Credit
Total: 3 9

Breakfast: Tusker House Restaurant (8:20) 1 TS Credit
Lunch: quick lunch 1 QS Credit
Dinner: 7:45 Dinner Maya Grill (hotel) 1 TS Credit
Total: 3 12

Breakfast: quick (prob early at Pepper Market Buffet) 1 QS Credit
Lunch: quick 1 QS Credit
Total: 2 14

Breakfast: hotel breakfast (6:30ish) 1 QS credit
Lunch: The Plaza Restaurant (12:15) 1 TS Credit
Dinner: Yachtsman (7:30) 2 TS Credit
Total: 4 18

breakfast: animal kingdom lodge BOMA (10:15) 1 TS Credit
lunch: at the park of the day 1 QS Credit
Total: 2 20

Now, I made some assumptions. When you said "quick service", "at hotel" or "at park", I assumed all as Quick Service Credits. On the Deluxe Dining Plan, you get 3 credits (per night) and those can either be used for Table Service or Quick Service, so if you were thinking of using dining plan credits for these, they would take away from your total bank of 18.

Based on this: you are trying to use 20 credits.

If your "at hotel" and "at park" mean you're going to just grab a snack and/or pay out of pocket for those, you are right at 18 credits.

I still can't say if this is too much. It all depends on your touring style and your personal dining style. It does sound like your husband really wants to have long sit down meals every day, so it could feel like you are spending more time eating or getting to your meals than your spending at the parks. However, it does look like you have spaced the time out as well as yo can so that there is a nice break between meals. But, remember, on the DxDP, you get Appetizer, entree and dessert (for lunch/dinner)...so it's possible you'll be stuffed every day.

We are also doing the DxDP and for 6 out of 7 days, we have at least 1 signature meal so we're using 2 credits for each of those and not having 3 full meals a day.

The other thing I think you need to take into consideration is what your daughter can handle. She may not want to eat that much or she might need the breaks throughout the day.

Sorry this doesn't help, but I always find that we really need to look at our own families and lifestyles to figure out what works for us.

I counted 20 credits, but you did say "maybe", so that counts for extra QS. For your choices, Sci-fi is a cool restaurant but not great food. We've not done MM. CM breakfast is good but bad for dinner. We had bad lunch and dinner meals at CRT, but great breakfasts. Akershus, Le Cellier, and Napoli are great, but not sure you can eat that much. I'd skip one. We've never been to Maya Grill, but we liked your choices.

The only other comment I would add is that, we did DxDP, and it is a lot of food. Generally, our family of four (big eaters) splits an app, each have entree, and split 1 dessert and eat dessert later in park. On this plan, each person gets each course. Also, we also found that we lost a lot of park time eating, and we did a character breakfast and signature dinner each day. When we left, we took 50 Mickey rice krispie treats.

I would suggest switching your Sunday 8:15 at Chef Mickey with your Friday June 15th Boma. Coming from the beach & a full day of DSH your first WDW day, the next morning you may not feel like getting up quite that early and you don't want to be tired when going to see Mickey!

That is if you can switch since Chef Mickey is a hard ADR to get, but try to get the latest possible bfast so you can have time to pack the car & drive over to CR, which will put you near Magic Kingdom since I'm betting that's the park you'll go back to if your DD has anything to say about that ;)

If that works for you, then you'll be able to sleep in a little, drive over to the AK Lodge and enjoy bfast at Boma's. The trip to the hotel is an adventure in & of itself IMO getting to walk around & see the grounds & animals.

THis will make a leisurely morning before your BBB 2pm & CRT 4:20. Postpone your QS lunch & call your CRT at 4:20 a very late lunch and then plan on a very late QS dinner :goodvibes

I'm guessing you are not doing park hoppers which is why you have 3 big meals at Epcot on Monday. You said your DH wants Via Napoli the most so I would consider not doing the character bfast (DD will see the princesses at CRT, right?) so rather than be so stuffed nobody will enjoy hubbies #1 choice, I'd suggest switching Mon & Wed bfast plans. Do your QS bfast at resort or Epcot and then plan a different character meal bfast for Wed. Either plan it at a park or do it at a resort that won't affect which park you can tour. Park Fare 1900 at GF has a character bfast, Ohana's at Poly, Cape May at BC or do your Chef Mickey this day & one of the others on your last day if you have difficulty rebooking Chef Mickey. You may have a better chance getting Chef Mickey's moved if you have 2 dates to work with :thumbsup2

Lastly, keep calling about your fantasmic dinner to try to get it moved back to 6 or 6:30. I had luck booking H&V fantasmic for 6pm, in the past they always stuck me with a 3-4 time slot (hated that!) but sometimes they do have later times, so keep trying & if not, then just leave it be.

I hope you have plenty of time for touring, you're going to be making DH very happy with the dining plans :rotfl:

May it be a magical trip for all of you & the start of many more trips to come pixiedust:

My husband and I just got back from our 1st trip together with the free DDP...even that was too much food. We used our snack credits for yogurt parfaits most mornings for breakfast, had a CS lunch and a TS dinner each night. I really thin the DxDP would be too much for all of you, even your hubby. Portion sizes are oversized at Disney and there is no way you could each finish an appetizer, entree, and dessert (plus beverage) twice per day plus have a CS meal in between.

We ended up turning down dessert a couple of times. One of those days was when we ate at CSR buffet breakfast at Pepper Market around 8:30am, skipped lunch, and ate at Mama Melrose's at 4pm for dinner (Fantasmic! Package)...we didn't finish the app we got, skipped the bread, and only ate half of each of our flatbreads, then skipped dessert all together.

The worst part was we hardly got any of the fun snacks in the parks I so badly wanted to try...we were WAY too stuffed. The only snacks we tried were Dole Whip (shared), Red Velvet Cupcake (shared), each had a yogurt smoothie at DHS, and we shared a frozen lemonade slushie. That was all over the course of our 7-night stay!

The DDP was fun for us to order anything we wanted without looking at the price tag, but if you are paying for it I would suggest you looking into getting the basic DDP and paying OOP for just a couple of additional TS meals. I don't think you can handle all the food DxDP offers like the apps.

We love the deluxe dining plan - and sit-down restaurants... especially when it's hot out - just love taking a restaurant break - would rather do that then head all the way back to the resort for a break.
I don't think it's too much eating at all, and I think you have it all timed out nicely.

But I do think you are not getting your money's worth out of the dining plan. Looks like you have 4 or 5 counter service, and then the Plaza - which is an inexpensive meal.
on the 13th and 14th... perhaps do a character breakfast - and on the 14th, then move your Plaza to later, maybe 1:00 or so?

Snack credits are great - you'll get a bunch with the deluxe! it's hot out... nice to know you have them for bottles of water! There's tons you can use them on, too!

Planet HOllywood... should be fine for your daughter - actually, it's my girls' favorite restaurant - they love how loud it is with the music - and we prefer to eat there at 8, 8:30 at night!

My only worry is that your meals are really close on the day you are doing BBB with your daughter. When will you tour MK with all that eating and the BBB appt? I would consider moving that breakfast to Wednesday where you currently have a QS listed. Of course you might not be able to get Chef Mickey that day though.

Also I know someone mentioned saving your snack credits for expensive items. Well we did that last trip and paid OOP for some stuff that was cheaper. Well guess what happened? Yep, sure enough we didn't use all our snack credits. Use them on whatever you want and when you're out then you can decide if you want to pony up $5 for a certain snack.

I personally felt like the regular DDP was too much food BUT you have the meals spaced out pretty well so I think you'll be okay.

Oh one more thing I'd cx Planet Hollywood and move another meal to that day if you could b/c quite honestly if I just paid all that money for DxDDP I am not buying a single meal OOP. LOL!

The second week in June is where we will be going June 9th -15th

Ok so some people are telling me In not using enough some people are saying I am using 2 many. I definitely do not want to pay all this money for the dining package and then end up having to still purchase some of my meals.

So ur dining plan goes by how many nights you have booked at your resort not by the number of days you have planned and purchased tickets for to the parks? So you're telling me I am only getting 6 days worth of credits and not 7? So we either have to skip meals some days or We are on our own for food that day? It says on their website that your credits are good until midnight on the day you check out.. so i would have imagined that meant they were including credits for that day to.

Some of you are telling me Planet HollyWood is not included with the dining package but it is listed that it is on the website.

Our travel agent did book us with the park hopper option ... We aren't sure as to how or if we really are going to utilize that we were thinking on our free days we might do on park in the morning then another park after we have lunch and rest ... we aren't sure yet though.

Ugh this seems so stressful If I am getting 6 days worth of credits I am going to have to rethink my entire plan and i hope it nots to late to get some different reservations we are now 100 days out!

Correct - dining credits are based on how many nights you stay in the resort. So if you are there for 6 nights, it's 6 x credits in your package (regular or deluxe). I do personally think you have way too much scheduled. I believe the poster who wrote out the credits for each location was correct - I think they said you had 20 credits booked, but I didn't go back to check.

(edited to say - I didn't go back and re-read your original plan, but that was my initial impression on how much dining you had - and I know I thought a few meals were too close together - but you got lots of other advice from PPs on all that.)

Dining just takes up SO much time - we would be very unhappy visitors if we spent all that time eating and meal-related things (transportation, waiting, etc.).

The second week in June is where we will be going June 9th -15th

Some of you are telling me Planet HollyWood is not included with the dining package but it is listed that it is on the website.

I've used a dining credit for Planet Hollywood on 2 ocassions so I would say it's part of the dining plan. It counts as a table service I believe. I will be back at Disney June 5 - 12. I'm also having breakfast on the same day you're at Hollywood Studios. Now I will make a note to look for a very tall man. lol. Also, just looking at your dining plans, that's a lot of food. IMO, you might want to split up the meals a bit. Have a quick service for dinner w/a snack in between. If I do breakfast around 8, I'm normally not hungry till after 1 - 2 p.m. I'm too busy working off what I ate and by it being so hustle bustle for us going here and there I'm not thinking about food. I catch a snack in-between the tie the kids over or a small lunch then a nice dinner or quick service. But, since this is your first trip you want to make it memorable and do everything I say go for it. :yay:

I've used a dining credit for Planet Hollywood on 2 occasions so I would say it's part of the dining plan. Trust me if you see us in Disney you will know it we are quiet the odd and memorable couple. I am only about 4ft 10in tall and have copper redhair. My husband is 6ft 7in tall and bald. We have a little blonde daughter who stands about shoulder high on me already LOL!
