Is alcohol bring confiscated?

Just throwing a different light on the OP question, what DCL has done is stopped allowing delivery by outside companies. So if the liquor store had a prior practice of being able to deliver for guests on the ship, this has been terminated. We ran into this in Grand Cayman with the Tortuga Rum store, where they were making arrangements for people to pickup their purchases before boarding the ship rather than the delivery they had previously been doing. I believe this is the same issue that Perfect Gifts (sp?) has with their gift basket delivery.

Well, in Grand Cayman it's the law that alcohol purchased there must be delivered to the ship, not hand-carried by passengers. Some places were getting around this by "delivering" the purchases (through the gate/fence) to the passenger, after the passenger had cleared the security gate.

In January they handed ours to us in the store and then we went through the gate. I don't know if it made a difference that the store door was only about 15ft from the gate however it was not carried through for us and they were absolutely not delivering to the ship. They did say that DCL is the only cruise line they were handling this way as all the rest were delivered.

This has been a DCL policy since we started sailing with them back in 2006. We've never been able to have alcohol delivered to the ship - and in ports like St. Thomas it is quite a pain to haul a dozen litres of booze back to the ship

We are on board Fantasy. Security didn't ask if we had alcohol and they didn't care. Bag went through the scanner with no issue.

Part of the story is true as the previously quoted policy states: all liquids (including alcoholic) in checked luggage will be confiscated and stored until the end of the cruise. Only carry on luggage is allowed.

They stated that alcohol was allowed in carry-on, as long as the bag was withing the size restrictions, no bigger that 22x14x9. All alcohol must be sealed in original containers and must be consumed prior to returning to home port. Coolers can only be used for medication, baby food or formula, or items for dietary constraint, and can be no larger than 12x12x12.

Recently went on our first Disney Cruise, Disney Dream on June 8th. Took a few bottles of liquor and wine on board with us in our carry on. We were never even asked if we were bringing alcohol. Simply put the bag through the scanner and proceeded up the escalator. Extremely simple process.

I think the difference between the poster who was asked if they were carrying on alcohol and those that weren't was the embarkation point. I believe for Alaska, in Canada they confirm you are carrying sealed bottles. In Florida, they couldn't care less if it was open or not (well, as long as open didn't mean actively consuming open bottle!)

As for the policy changing in 2016, I doubt it but what I really doubt is that it would be changed without some notification. This would be a big change to policy that they have in writing and while I think they have every right to change the policy, I doubt this is one that they would try to slip by -- would cause a lot of problems at embarkation and a lot of unnecessary bad feelings.

we bought rum from the Tortuga factory store, near the turtle farm, and easily carried onto the boat last year no questions asked what so ever, not buy the store, not by customs or the ship,
