Is Aladdin something I can miss?

I would try my best to see the Aladdin show. As far as production values go, it's closer to Broadway than theme park. I liked the Nemo show at DAK more than I thought I would, but I don't think it's close to Aladdin.

For me, Genie makes the show. His current event riffs are wildly funny and his ad libbing is amazing. Once the audience started to boo Aladdin when he wouldn't free the Genie and he started to tell the audience they can't boo the hero before comparing Aladdin to Justin Bieber. He then instructed the audience that he would tell them when to boo, which led to a funny sequence where he told Jafar that he'd ruined a family's vacation.

In my opinion, DCA decided to keep the show because the fans showed up in droves to watch the show. While there were some less than enthusiastic responses to a Toy Story musical, the crowds showed up for Aladdin and I think that's when Disney decided to keep it.

One of these days, I may be bold enough to tell Genie "Preach it brother" when he refers to Iago as a Tiki room reject. That line got even funnier after I'd seen Under New Management at WDW.

For me the fun of the show is in seeing what new lines Genie has. Some lines are almost constant (Tiki room reject), but there will always be new lines based on current events or as happened above, audience reaction.

Shortly after the Tiger Woods incident, Genie warned the carpet to watch out for that fire hydrant. He also warned the carpet to not get dirty while out flying because carpet hadn't been scotch guarded yet.

The first time I saw the show, he subtitled the "I can't make people fall in love with you" rule the "Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson" rule and last summer he called it the "Al and Tipper Gore" rule.

At the peak of High School Musical's fame, he even started singing and dancing to one of the songs from the movie which sent the tweens into rapture.

While I've yet to do it, I've heard of people who watched the show on back to back days and said it was different both times.

In going over old trip notes, I found the specific reference to Jafar. As happens during shows like this, sometimes people need to leave for whatever reason. A family sitting near the stage had to do this and it happened right after Jafar shows up to ruin the day. At the people have to leave their seats in full view of the audience, Genie turns to Jafar and tells him, "Look Jafar. You made those kid leave and now you've ruined their whole vacation."

And I only heard Genie do this once years ago, but it was classic. We all know the famous Super Bowls commercials with the "What are you going to do next?" line. Well, Genie announced very excitedly "I'm going to cross the street!"

DS9 just walked past my computer screen, and this is the thread title that grabbed his attention for some reason. "Is Aladdin something I can miss?" he reads out loud. "Uh, no," he says, shakes his head, and walks away. :rotfl:

We have seen the Aladdin show so many times, I have lost count. It's a really well put together production, and both my boys really enjoy it. They ask to go every trip, even when we're only at the resort for a couple of days. To our family, it's always worth the time.

It is a "Do not miss".

Nearly everyone comes away very pleased.
Last fall I took my sister and her grandkids (9 yr old girl, 11 yr old boy).
We were limited for time (two days). But they all wanted to see it again.
