Hi everyone,

My family and I are trying out AKL for the first time this October, and we just cannot wait!

I ended up booking a Savannah view room and was curious about concierge level. Being that my husband, myself, my daughter 10 and son 3 do not eat meat would it be worth our while?
We do eat dairy so anything containing cheese or egg would be fine.
I realize that it is mostly snacky foods, fruit and beverages and that we would not be eating here a whole lot.
I was just wondering if anyone who has stayed could give me and idea of what to expect before i make the decision.

thanks so much

Hi - fellow Canadian :D

Well for breakfast you are fine.... muffins, danishes, toast, bagels, (with cream cheese, butter, jam, peanut butter) hot oatmeal, cold cereals & fruit.

Daily snacks are crackers, gummi bears, trailmix, cashews etc..

Afternoon tea.. scones, tarts etc

Appetizers... non meat items that I saw daily included flatbreads, veggies & dip, cheeses and crackers, hummus (2 kinds), sandwich roll ups - (I think it was all veggie), they also had salmon and shrimp skewers (not sure if you do seafood)

And of course all day they have ice tea, lemonade, bottled water, soda, tea, coffee, cappucino etc...

Later in the evening they have desserts such as cookies, cheesecake, tarts, chocolate covered strawberries, squares & even once or twice "zebra domes"

As for your question is concierge worth it... this question is asked so many times on these boards- and it is hard to answer... are people trying to eat more in value than the extra $ they paid to make it worth it??

It is not just food - it is the access to the beautiful and relaxing lounge, separate check in, extra service, better room location, itinerary planning services & a staff that looks after you. It is pretty hard to put a price on this.

To me it is worth it - have fun planning your holiday

thanks,
you are right, it sounds like the concierge level does add a little something to the vacation... and as far as the food goes our family are not heavy eaters but it would be nice to have the drinks and snacks.

thanks again casshew.

hi krishouse

ah another vegetarian from fort erie.....

was thinking the same thing my self as we are considering one night concierge in june just to see what it is like ( at akl using DVC points ) since we have to use them or lose them this year....

glad you asked the question

I don't know about concierge, but my brother is vegetarian, and I remember thinking that Boma would be an excellent choice for him. I do eat meat, but there were so many wonderful non-meat choices there that I don't think I even had any meat!

I'm vegetarian, and I stayed AKL concierge two years ago and there was a lot for me to eat. They have the best dips and spreads, hummus, with veggies and cheeses, pb&j for the kids. And Boma is a really great restaurant for vegetarians. (I have also stayed Poly concierge which probably serves heavier foods, but not as much for vegetarians.)

Hope this helps!
