I was considering betting AAA, for the discounted room. Is it really worth the cost? :confused3

I replied to a thread around here somewhere about AAA. It was recently but I can't find it!

My entire family has been AAA members since as long as I can remember (and could drive). I consider it a good investment, even without Disney in the picture. There are many AAA savings around the country and the car service alone is worth it. Also, if you go into any AAA place you can get free maps and travel books and stuff.

I wish I could find that thread... if anyone else does, post it here! I know a lot of people posted about how much they liked AAA!!

I totally agree with this!! Disney or not, AAA is a good investment. In fact, I've been a member since I was 16 and learned to drive, even before my Disney addiction!

We've used the roadside service quite a bit (from breakdowns to dead batteries...) and we've bought our movie tickets, our passes to local amusement parks, and attractions, plus we've used the notary service quite a bit!

To answer your question, yes, AAA is worth the investment!!

For my upcoming trip to WDW, I was able to save $175 off the rack rate for 7 nights at a Moderate resort. That more than pays for 1 year of AAA membership.

We are saving $356 with the AAA discount off the room portion of our MYW + dining package. I think it's well worth it.

I've had a AAA membership for years and it's saved me many times. Have had to had cars towed, tires changed, etc. Wonderful benefits with the auto club, plus tons of other discounts.

Well, I like the peace of mind that the 20% discount on my room gives me. If there are no AP rates available during my stay, it's nice to know that I've already saved $123 off the rack rate. But more than that, it's the roadside assistance. Two weeks ago, I ran out of gas on a fairly busy freeway with a quarter mile of bridge construction between me and the nearest gas station. It didn't take long for me to realize that this is precisely why I keep my AAA membership up to date.

In more Disney-trip related concerns, I'm renting a car for the first time on my trip. It's nice to be able to enter in some information and get an online Triptik from the airport to the hotel, to SuperTarget, to my aunt's house in Lakeland. Unlike most online mapping systems, it told me all about possible construction problems and didn't try to tell me that Pop Century is in a subdivision in Orlando.

I've been a AAA member as long as I can remember. Other than the roadside assistance, I've used it locally for dining, sights and even new Rx glasses. The Disney discounts are just the icing on the cake.

I agree with everyone. AAA is definitely worth it just for the road side assistance. I've had it ever since I got my license. Fortunately I've only had to use it once when my alternator died and my car was stuck in lots of traffic. I recently used my AAA discount when booking a disney vacation. We saved close to $250! For two broke college students that is very nice. Even if you don't save a lot of money, why not use it? It is still money in your pocket and it's not like you have to do much to receive the discount other than show them your card.

I recently changed my reservation to one thru a AAA travel agent. I was able to save over $400 on my reservation + MYW Dining. The agent even separated my trip into two reservations to save me even more money since we are going on a daytrip offsite one day and don't need the dining the entire time. She is going to keep track of the 4 reservations now instead of me (2 rooms and a split reservation). So, for the $$ and less of a headache I think it is worth it. The CM I spoke with at Disney even said he would go AAA since he couldn't offer me a discount on the rooms.

If you book your room with the AAA discount and another discount comes available, you can change the price to the better discount.
AAA has saved me a lot not including disney. Just with having an older car it gives me peace of mind that if something happens AAA will be right there to help.

I got it years, and years ago for roadside assistance. And have used them quite a few times when stuck. But then discovered all the other advantages. I've gotten hotel discounts at Hershey, Disney and Lake George. Those are places I planned some family reunion group trips. I called AAA to tell them we are driving to Florida they sent a nice size box of maps for each section of the drive, booklets, and triptik, etc. It's under $60 a year for us. I think I would join even if I didn't need roadside assistance.

I agree AAA is worth it. We joined last year because of a promo deal. They were offering free UO tickets. I thought I would never need them since we had a brand new car, figured it more than paid for itself with the free tickets. I have used them twice :earseek:this year. ( I locked my keys in the car and I ran out of gas) Best thing about it is I can call AAA instead of DH and he'll never know  I used AAA again this year on UO tickets and they threw in a AAA Diamond parking pass!! I have also gotten discounts at several box stores. IMHO AAA is worth it :cheer2:
