Is Aaa Worth The Membership?

I have had AAA since I had my first car, about twenty years ago. It has been invaluable for their roadside assistance, which I had to use a few months ago, the day after our not-so-old car was fixed ($800) and the mechanic "forgot" to put a part back in its rightful place. It was a FREEZING night, I was alone driving home from Grad school, and the tow truck was there within 15 minutes. Not only that, the lady from AAA had called my husband at home to let him know the tow truck was on its way, and not to worry.

I use the AAA discounts all the time (hotels, etc), and I have requested numerous trip-tiks to map out road trips. They also will give you maps to wherever you are interested in going. And their magazine isn't bad, either.

Highly recommend!!

I think AAA is well worth the money!! There has been at least twice I have had to call for road service and my husband as well. I would highly recommend AAA!!

One thing you can do, which is what I did yesterday, is call AAA. Even without being a member they will transfer you over to phone operators who specifically deal with Disney AAA packages. They'll quote you their price versus what you got directly from whatever hotel(s) you are planning to stay with. I had a difference of $240 savings on AKL, and my ressies for HRH are actually better than the AAA rate. So I signed up for it to get the Disney hotel savings. Then, called Disney back to cancel the main reservation, and they matched it instead - which was fine too (you still need your AAA card if Disney discounts it, they just process it directly I guess).

And right now they are offering two adult membership for the cost of one if you select automatic renewal. They still send you a renewal notice so you can easily pick up the phone and cancel before they do a renewal, and saves you more money now.

I've never done AAA, but looks like it'll definitely benefit me with this trip this year! Good lucK!

AAA doesn't offer auto insurance in every market, but where they do, the savings can be substantial. Our AAA policy has consistently saved us over $500/yr. on our auto insurance; they now do our homeowner's, too and that took the auto policy down even further.

We have the AAA Plus - I wanted that because I'd had a long tow the previous year and ended up paying more than the Plus would have cost (at least I had the regular AAA!)

With the plus, we get our passport photos included, as well as the longer towing and such. They have local offers for discounts (I was able to get discounts on our AP, Seasonal and my Universal Seasonal pass), etc. It really is a great deal.

These are some of the benefits that I've taken advantage of this year:

AMC movie tickets - pack of 10 for $60 (Loew's and Regal 10 for $65)

Cingular Wireless - 5% off your monthly plan

My dh and were talking about the movie ticket discount today. Are there any restrictions on these? Can you buy them online? I am guessing not.

How do you apply the cingular account discount as well? Thank you for your help!

I think it is worth it.We got our aaa membership on late may.Sionce then we saved 180.00 on glasses at Lenscrafters, got a free jumpstart when DH left the lights on, and are saving 250.00 on our WDW room rate (the original reason i got aaa in the first place)
To top it off we signed up for aaa through a mypoints email and got a reduced rate of 38.00 for 15 months membership and dh was free (no automatic renewal required). And i got 1000 points for it too!
So for us it was totally worth it!

I have had AAA for years. The initial reason I started going with AAA is because when they come, you don't have to have money or a credit card.
Way back then, I had neither. Some road side assistance memberships make you pay first and then you get reimbursed. At least that how it was. Things may have changed but I have used them many times and they show up quickly when you need them, properly identify themselves and will tow the car if needed where I ask to go. I would not be without my membership. I consider the discounts an added bonus.

The movie tickets are "passes". So, you cannot use them for any movie that states "no passes accepted". That's pretty much the first two weeks following the release date for most movies. But that's not a big deal for us. We don't have to be the first to see a film when it comes out (with the exception of POTC 2, but that's b/c we have a J Depp-crazed DD16).

The Cingular offer was also thru the website. There were certain restrictions (2 yr. contract, limited phone selection, discount is on the plan only and not for additional lines or services). There was a link to have someone contact you rather than do the sign up online. 5% off my plan amounts to about $3.50/month.

Both features are accessible online for me. I have MidAtlantic AAA, so the benefits and website might be different for you, depending on your regional club.

I was just in Payless and forgot to use it. Wish they'd post signs....... anyway

I think it worth it. We've used them twice for the car, not to mention some of the discounts.

without a doubt it's worth it.

in one week, i locked my keys inthe car twice. both times they came within minutes and opened no problem! (was having a bad week :teeth: )

one of the best memberships to join! :thumbsup2
