Is AAA Membership worth it?

I've already booked 10 days in August at Pop Century with the DDP and hoppers. We are paying a little over 2 grand for the trip. If we book through AAA it would cost us nearly $150 less. However, we'd have to join and that would cost us around 90 with the booking fee.

Its a 60 dollar savings.

My questions about it are what happens if they offer free DDP? Would I still be able to get that through AAA?

Also, would I have to change my TS seatings? We have them pretty much perfect since I booked the morning of 180 days out.

Any experience with this would be great.

Thanks,
Gretchen

My understanding is that you can't do free dining(or any other promotion) and AAA at the same time. With AAA, you would save 20% at value resorts during value season. That's just off the room; everything else would be regular price.

You can use AAA to get reduced rates at other hotels, car rental places, Amtrak, etc. Of course, there is what AAA is really for, which is free towing, battery jump starts, getting locked keys out of the car, flat tire etc. I think its worth it, but thats me.

We have AAA and use it for hotel discounts, trip-tiks, maps, etc. and I like being able to do trip routes on the internet better than mapquest, etc.

As for whether to join for just the discount for your Disney trip, well, that's a tough call - but I will say that having the peace of mind of having AAA for travel-related issues is worth it to me - for all year. We've been members for ages and ages.

As for your Table Service, you don't have to cancel those even if you change your reservations from one travel agency to another or do it yourself. The ADRs are separate from your reservation (although they do link them - if you choose to cancel your hotel reservation, make sure that they don't cancel your TS - they shouldn't, but since you have it like you want it, then it's worth being sure if you do change your hotel stuff).

I have already gotten my $$ back on saving 10% at Payless and also have peace of mind that if something happens to my car I just call AAA and they will get me the help I need. Plus with TEXAS heat I wouldn't have to worry about having a heat stroke in the summer trying to change a flat tire.
Well worth every penny to me!!!!

The travel agent said she checked about the dining plan and that we could get free DP if it was offered through DISNEY. However, everyone on the boards has different information and it sounds too good to be true, much like the old adage.

As far as the other stuff, towing, etc. We're rarely that far from home where it would be a problem. (Now that I said that though, I'm tempting fate.:confused3 )

I like the magazine. I always read my parents, but I'm really hoping for free dining which isn't even guaranteed at this point.

I have already gotten my $$ back on saving 10% at Payless ...

Oh man - I didn't know that AAA has a discount with Payless - I often get the kids' shoes there. I need to file that in my brain! And go look to see what other merchants I shop at regularly that I've not been using my AAA card for a discount. This board is GREAT!

I have to say that after getting a flat tire in the middle of rush hour on very large, very busy expressway on Tuesday morning, I now think of my AAA membership as priceless. And the $$ we are saving next month at Disney is pretty darn good too. :thumbsup2
