Is a window on the canopy of a stroller necessary?

I'm looking at 2 different stollers right now. They are just about the exact same, but one has a window/screen type thing that you can look down at the baby when the canopy is in use.

Is this completely necessary to have? The stroller that does not have it is about $40 cheaper and I would love to save exta $$.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any help!

Our travel system had the "sun roof" and we never used it. I would save the $40 and put it towards your trip!

Think of the window/screen as a sunroof on a car. It's nice to have, but how often are you going to use it, especially since it may not protect the kids from the ultraviolet rays. I'd save the $40, and get the stroller without the window/screen. We have one on our BOB, and DH just uses the window/screen to check if the kids are napping and to play peek-a-boo with them.

I'm so glad someone asked this question lol. I just bought the Maclaren Volo because it was cheaper than the next model up. The only thing the other model had that I thought would be handy was the "sunroof," and that model was heavier so we decided against it. Glad to hear it isn't that necessary, I was afraid I would be missing the looks on her face but you can't see that much through the plastic anyways right? Just the back of their head? lol

Actually there is more of a difference between the Volo and the Truimph, and the Quest. The volo has a mesh seat, the Triumph and Quest have a padded seat. The Triumph and Quest also recline, where I don't believe the Volo does. I'm kind of thinking you were looking at the Triumph and Quest though because I don't belive the Triumph has a window. The difference between the Quest and Triumph is that the Quest reclines more than the Triumph, and also has more support to the back. The Quest also has an extendable leg rest, and a pouch on the hood for keys, wallets, sippycups, ect... Sorry if this is bad news to you, I just didn't want you thinking the only difference was the window. Can you tell I recently researched this??:rotfl2: Either way, the Mac is a great stroller and I don't think you will be disapointed. It is soooo easy to push, even one handed!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

Oh don't worry I know there are more differences, that's why I said the only other thing I thought would be handy. I was debating between the Volo and the Triumph. I actually thought the mesh seat was more handy than the padded, especially in Orlando lol. I figured it would dry quicker if it rained. I have a mesh office chair too and it's really comfy. Now I wasn't sure about the reclining part. DD is 3 and I've never reclined her in the regular stroller. I thought it would be nice if she was sleepy, but from what I read it didn't recline that much anyways. For some reason I thought all the rest of them had the viewing window, I didn't realize the Triumph didn't, so luckily I didn't order it lol! The Quest was just too high a price difference for me, and the Volo is heavy enough without the extra 4 pounds. I really debated a lot on it, I just didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that was really only for this trip. We have 2 other strollers and DH wasn't happy as it was, but after reading the threads I really wanted an umbrella type for the buses.

By the way the pics of your kids are so precious!!

Thank-you!! They are my life!!
I totally understand why you chose the volo, I just wanted to make sure you didn't think that was the only difference. Sorry for misreading it. I was reading it and entertaining the kids, so you know how that goes. I don't think you'll be disapointed in your decision. You may even find you use it more just because it is soooo easy!! I used to think people were nuts for spending this much on an umbrella stroller....well, I've certainly changed my mind!!:rotfl2: It only took four strollers to figure that out:rotfl:. Trust me, my husband was not pleased about this stroller because he couldn't figure out why we needed another one. :furious: He too quickly changed his mind once he used it. Now he is back to greatful....still wishing we had figured it out four strollers ago, but greatful.

Yeah DH wasn't pleased until I told him about how difficult it was to bring a "monster" on the buses. I know some people have it down pat and can drive one without being inconsiderate, but that's not us lol. Our DD3 is our foster daughter that will hopefully have adopted by the end of the year. We got her last year when she was two, so honestly we just don't have that much stroller experience in general lol. The two we have were hand-me-downs from friends. Why two you ask? Well the first one was pink and DH didn't want to drive it haha. So as a joke one of his male friends gave us a black and red one. :rotfl: Anyways we just LOVE the Volo. It is of course pink!! It's so tall and so light. I can't wait for Disney, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good stroller to bring with them. I wish it had a cup holder but it's not that big a deal, and at least it has a basket. My only question is, is it safe to put in cargo folded down or do I need a stroller bag or something?

We had a stroller that had a clear plastic "sunroof" and I wish it didn't have it. If the sun was at the right angle it would be right on the baby's face and I just ended up putting a blanket over it any way. Definately not worth the $40.
