Is a three night cruise worth the money?

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this board. My DH and I are doing the 1/2 Marathon at WDW next January, 2005. The marathon is on Sunday, January 9, and we will probably arrive on Friday the 7th, and stay somewhere on Disney property using our DVC points. Our 5th anniversary is Saturday, January 15th, so I was thinking of surprising DH with a cruise to end our vacation, departing Thursday the 13th and returning Sunday the 16th. I'm torn between just spending the entire week at WDW and doing something special there, like dinner at V&A's, or doing the three night cruise. I've only cruised once before, about 10 years ago on the Norwegian through the Norway cruise line, and DH has never cruised before. I just don't know whether 3 nights is worth the money. Will we feel rushed or deprived on such a short trip. Should I just book another longer cruise at another time? Any thoughts?

Keep in mind that I've never cruised before... I just have our first cruise booked for the future LOL
But I have read a lot on here about some points...
1) you would be making the cruise at the end of a trip at WDW- from what I have read that is how the majority would do it... a relaxing cruise after WDW instead of vice versa- so you have that going for you if you decide to do the cruise.
2) I personally wouldn't consider going on a cruise shorter than the 7 day BUT that is because we'd have to pay airfare for 5 people, cruise for 2 rooms for those 5 in my family, etc. If you are already going to be at WDW- and the cruise would only be for you two... it would be incredibly reasonably priced to just add on a short cruise for you two- and I think it's a great way to celebrate your anniversary!
3.) I have seen many advise that others take a shorter cruise at first if they have never cruised- so since you haven't cruised in many years and DH has never cruised before- it might be wise to go on a shorter cruise the first time anyway.. so there's another "pro" about the 3 day being worth it for you. :)

I hope this helps you make a decision! :)

I think it would be a perfect way to end your week (hope to see you there--I'm signed on with the WISHwalkers to do the 1/2 marathon). We started out with a 3 night to "ease into" cruising because we weren't sure if we would like it. We are now booked on our 6th cruise since that 1st one in 10/01. The cost, particularly for that time of year is terrific when you consider the wonderful food and entertainment. For the price of the meal at V & A (which I understand is a wonderful restaurant) you could be served breakfast, lunch and dinner and have a spa treatment on the ship. I never felt rushed or deprived on board--DCL does a great job of keeping a wonderful pace to their activities. You can do as little or as much as you want. One last piece of advice: if you do the 3 night, go ahead and book your next trip while you are on board--it will save you $ because you will want (maybe even NEED) to cruise again.

Thanks guys, those are very good points. NCRedding, DH and I are doing the 1/2 Marathon with the WISHwalkers also, so I'll see you there!! I've been dying to do the Disney cruise for years now, but since I spend so much time in WDW, I never seem to have the time to do the cruise. That's why I thought this would be perfect since we'll already by down there, and it's just DH and I, no kids or anyone else who usually come with us to WDW. I think I'm gonna do it! Now to think up more questions!:teeth:

I think that it would be great to do it. Our first cruise was a 3 night cruise in August, we wanted to see if we liked it, and we loved it so much that we are booked for a 7 day in February. We went with our kids, but they loved the club, so we did have adulty time, we went to Palo, and had time to spend on the decks at night, it was very romantic......
Go for it......
