Is a split stay a good choice??

When we honeymooned in '96, we stayed at the GF and Contemporary and it was nice to experience both resorts. If you have small children, you may need to consider that your new room might not be ready in time for nap time/down time. That can be a hassle with missing naptime! For our next trip, we are taking a 3 day cruise in between 5 day long stays at the WLV and BCV. Gives us a chance to be close to both MK and Epcot!

We split every single trip and wouldn't do it any other way. we always start out DVC, Do our laundry and when we check into AKL we have a suitcase of clean clothing. For us we do all our parks stuff, run around things and check into AKL for a relaxing 3 day end to our running.:wave2:

Wow, I like this thread - I have reservations for 10 nights for Aug. 04. Six nights at OKW and four nights at BCV. I will have to take a family poll late Jan./early Feb. to see if my family of 5 wants to stay put at OKW for 10 nights or leave my reservation alone and try BCV for the last four nights. We own at both - it will be our first time staying at BCV. I am really not sure what I want - we are also still trying to decide - drive for the first time or fly (which I awlays hate) and rent a car for 10/11 days.

I HAVE A QUESTION FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SWITCHED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VACATION. DISNEY WILL TRANSFER LUGGAGE FROM ONE RESORT TO THE NEXT WHAT ABOUT GROCERIES? DO THEY TAKE YOUR FOOD FROM THE FRIDGE? THANKS WERE GOING FOR 10 DAYS IN JUNE AND THINKING ABOUT A MOVE IN THE MIDDLE.

We've split stays in the past, usually between a moderate and a DVC property, beofre we had enough points to stay the full trip in the DVC. I enjoyed it in a way, because as other posters have said, it's like oyu get 2 different vacations if you get to stay in 2 different resorts.

WDW makes the luggage transfer very easy, they will refrigerate perishables if you have any. I never minded being "homeless" for that short period of time...we usually checked out of one hotel in the morning, did a park, and went back to the new hotel in the afternoon. We didn't have kids needing naps or anything, so having no hotel for a few hours wasn't an issue.

I do find I pacl less clothing with the DVC because of the washer and dryer. If we're staying for 8 days, I pack 3-4 days worth of clothing, so even the packing/unpacking thing isn't as involved.

I'd recommend it. Two vacations are better than one!!!!

We're doing some resort hopping for our upcoming trip!

First we have 2 nights at the Dolphin after the long drive down, I got a great rate through Hotwire. I think I'm going to pack a seperate suitcase for those nights.

Then we're staying at the BCV for 6 nights, 5 of which DH's family(total 12 people) will be staying there also.

Then it's off to the BWV for 6 nights so we'll have some time for just our family!

I can't wait, our last trip we stayed at the CR for 3 nights and then went over to the YC for 9 nights. I loved the feeling of 2 vacations in one, it was great!

Have a great trip!
