Is a rental car really necessary?

Hello,

My FIL will be joining us for four nights of our trip in DLR. He seems to think he needs to rent a van for us for that entire time. The best deal we've found is $288.44.

I on the other hand think it's really not necessary. We will be staying at the HoJo so plan to walk to the parks. We do plan to go to Universal one day but I priced a rental car at $25 for just one day. So, w/ shuttle or even taxi from SNA, and one day car rental he'd save $200.

I just don't want to convince him he doesn't need it and then have him wish he had a vehicle for the duration of the stay? Since I only know what I've read so far, what is your opinion?

I think it depends on what you have planned, when we were down in OCT, I got a Trailblazer from the 22nd to 30th for $180 (inc insurance) I have no Idea how I got it so cheap But things to factory in

What airport your coming in at? how much is the transfers

Universal? Seaworld? Legoland?

Shopping?

Its all about personal preference i guess is what I'm saying
